Woman Testifies In Victoria's Secret Lawsuit

POSTED: 11:12 a.m. EDT April 13, 2004 UPDATED: 11:31 a.m. EDT April 13, 2004 LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- A woman described to jurors Monday how her full-length Victoria's Secret nightgown caught fire in a 1998 accident.

Linda Rossby is suing the Columbus- based lingerie chain for more than $10 million in damages. She appeared in court in Little Rock, Arkansas for the first time Monday.

Her lawyers said scars keep Rossby from sitting for long periods. Rossby testified that her right arm caught on fire as she reached in an oven to get a pizza. Last week, her lawyers argued that the lightweight cotton material in the nightgown burned quicker than one would expect, and that Victoria's Secret should have put a warning tag on the garment. The lingerie chain said the gown met federal safety standards and that it should not be held liable for the accident.

I'm not against suing if a manufacture if its product is defective....

But this is "retarded".

Will this thread be flame retardant? LOL

Sorry. Anyone should have figured that a piece of lightweight cotton fabric was at risk to catch fire if you reach into an over with it.

The article doesn't mention this, but she was wearing a t-shirt over the gown.

I've done plenty of cooking while wearing Victoria's Secret PJ's (cotton), robes, and nightgowns (of other material). I can't figure out how the nightgown caught fire from the oven, unless she was broiling the pizza in a gas oven. If she was baking the pizza - which seems the normal cooking procedure for pizza, the flame is not exposed. At least not in my gas oven.

That's what Victoria's Secret gets for stocking COTTEN lingerie...trying to pander to the practical customer.

This should serve as a gentle reminder to women everywhere.. cooking in the nude will prevent kitchen fires. ;-)

I suppose a tee can sub as an apron but victoria secret stuff is very 'flowing' and I wouldn't cook with wearing anything like it. Weird case.
