I'm concerned about Atty. General Ashcroft - it hasn't been that long since his very painful and serious surgery. This good man needs our prayers - never has an attorney general been so vilified by the evil left.

Agreed. My gut tells me that they'd like nothing better than to destroy this man and further weaken team Bush.

Freeh being asked about renewal of Patriot Act and strengthening any provisions of the Act.

Freeh: One area that's not addressed in the Act or any measures is any effort to address the issue of incription. The info we've accumulated regarding incripted channels of communication shows our LE agencies don't have the technology to break down incripted messages.

Incription is the technology that allows data to be scrambled so you can't understand what is being said. He testified dozens of times previously for relief and is a huge gap in our security and he urges the commission to review this.

I haven't heard any commissioners tell Freeh to hurry up or curtail his answers because he is "cutting into their time." Have I missed something?

Wish Louie had said more about WHY not implemented....due to influx of airline money to Clinton/Gore 1996 reelection campaign!

If Freeh admited that he knew Gore compromised securiy for campaign dollars, he would certainly appear in a bad light for doing or saying absolutely nothing at the time.

I may be the proverbial optimist, but I still believe President Bush has not played his hole cards. I think he is letting this farce play out, and when the dims reach to grab their chips, he will say "not so fast, I believe a flush beats a fifth ace.

"One of the liberal rags said this morning that Gore-lick would not be questioning Reno..."

Would you fill me in on the Gorelick/Reno situation and why she would not question Reno?

She worked with Freeh and Reno and so it would be a conflict of interest.

Gore-lick was, for a number of years, the Deputy Attorney General, i.e. she was the #2 person in the DOJ under Reno. Freeh worked for Reno and Gore-lick as FBI Director. It's called "Conflict of Interest".

She worked FOR Reno, a direct report to Reno.

She was charged with implementing many of Freeh's recommendations. Freeh was a direct report to Reno, as well.

ben Veniste got Freeh to agree that Kamakazi threats were known. He said "Yes."
IMHO THAT will be the point taken by the media tonight,
and NOT the impropriety of the Commission.

I will now win the entire Commission efforts for the Democrats.
I will now read into the record that what I meant before, Judge Freeh,
is that Kamakazi weapons were known orally as well as in the written briefings
to which we have been referring. You will now nod yes. Thank you.
