This is why we need to be no-nonsense, and Ashcroft is demonstrating, when it comes to serious business. THe contrast between Ashcroft and Reno is absolutely stunning.

Awesome re fingering Gorelick. WHAT IS SHE DOING ON THE COMMISSION?This has been my question from the beginning. Why was she EVER allowed on this commission? Who chose these people?
Like I said earlier in post #892, I'm starting to think Daschle appointed Gorelick to the panel because he knew in advance she had a lot to hide. Putting her on the panel was his way of keeping her from testifying. He must have known she was a very weak link for the Dems.

Asking whether Ashcroft knew of any plans to respond to the Cole with a military strike?
FBI was there within hours, they determined that AQ was involved, but couldn't establish command and control of AQ until early fall.
Didn't have clear, provable understanding whether senior AQ individuals were involved.

Like Presbush, AG Ashcroft is a man of character and integrity. Ashcroft was actually contemplating a run himself for the Presidency in 2000.

Ashcroft has declassified a report Gorelock wrote several years ago that established the wall that protects against Intel. agencies sharing information.
Which is the exact part of the problem that permitted 9/11 to happen.
Which gives her a clear conflict of interest and should get her booted off the commission. (I don't think she will be booted off the commission, btw).
