What a bunch of crap. The "commissioners" can either be shown deference or be reviled, just so long as they get the answers. Respect is EARNED not conferred.

I had to leave earlier just as the commission was starting their afternoon session. They apparently were about to announce their preliminary findings (before all the testimony has even been taken?!?). It was about 12:30 CST.
The first thing I did when I got home was to look up the posts between 12:25 and 12:45 to find out what happened, and I saw no mention of it.
Can someone please fill me in on what happened?
Thanks.

Black: Enemy we're up against he's been working against since the 90's. We did all we could to produce leads and information.
The men and women who did this did a fantastic job.
Catostraphic failure with 3000 dead, but don't say we didn't get it. We got it all right. We know these people and what they want to do.
Black says he failed his people by not having enough. Needed more money--goes back to the 90's. When we get to the recent past he doesn't think they could have gotten enough fast enough.
Re millenium threat: Went to Tenet, we don't have enough money and he took him aside and he said do what's right for the country and blow it out. So Black took steps that had not been budgeted and after the threat passed they spent time getting the funds retroactively.

From "The Corner" at National Review:
TOM PICKARD [Andy McCarthy]
Former Acting FBI Director Tom Pickard, who took over the FBI when Louie Freeh retired, will be testifying this afternoon. Fox News just reported that Pickard told the Commission in private interviews that he believed the terrorism problem was bigger than law enforcement; that AG Reno and DAG Gorelick strongly disagreed, and believed law enforcement was the way to go; and that he (Pickard) was very surprised to learn that Gorelick is a member of the 9/11 Commission. Could be an interesting session. Pickard's time frame as acting Director was mid-2001 until about a week before the 9/11 attacks. Will be very interesting to see if Commissioner Gorelick decides to participate in the questioning.

And Condi testified that it was a courthouse
Certainly not the WTC
I think the PDB said "federal buildings" so the WaPo took creative licenses.
They are evil--since as I told you, it was THEY who frontpaged the 2002 story giving the title and the basic gist of the PDB. You'd think they'd have a context.

Bump for the PM.

Bill McCollum and Bob Barr should have been two of the Reps on this commission; the Reps are a bunch of old men who apparently lack the energy to fight the Dems' politicization of the hearings. But can you imagine the howls of indignation if a "partisan attack dog" like Barr had been named to the commission? Only Dem attack dogs are allowed.

I would agree with you. There is nothing as great as an outspoken, outstanding, upstanding guy who will tell it like it is.
