Barbara (L) and Jenna Bush, the daughters of U.S. President George W Bush, walk together from the Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas, April 11, 2004 after President Bush (news - web sites) and members of his family visited with soldiers wounded in Iraq (news - web sites). Bush awarded 10 purple hearts to troops recovering in the hospital, after attending an Easter Sunday Church service at a chapel within the army base in central Texas.

If you are wearing cloth on your toes, you should cover the cloth with shoe. That's the rule. Not in the Southeastern part of the United States it isn't. Sorry.

Why does my opinion have so many of you in such a huff? Is it thought to be beyond the pale to make any remark whatsoever on how the twins dress? I don't know if you've ever seen any of these types of threads before, but they all wind up going the same way. Someone sets out a marker and the rest of the day is spent trying to knock it down or move it through ridicule or insult, etc. I have made up my mind to stop letting it surprise me. ...

Apparently not all sources on etiquette agree with you. This is from "The Etiquette Queen" at www.party411.com:
Krista asked:
The person I am dating invited me to a cocktail party at his Ex sister-in-law's house. His ex-wife will be there along with many other couples he knew while married. Nonetheless, I want to dress to impress. I have an ankle length black dress with a burnout velvet pattern that is flared. What would you recommend? Also,is it appropriate to wear hose with open-toed shoes? Thanks.
The Etiquette Queen says:
You are very brave to go to this party. I can't figure out why he wants to go. Dress sounds great, you may want to add a great shawl. Hose are always appropriate, get demi-toe.

"Maybe the problem is that you have a problem with not so pure thoughts since you made the whores and sluts comments earlier."
"Not all girls dress like sluts and it is up to the parents to raise their daughters to dress like young ladies instead of whores."
Do you have a problem with this statement or think that it is incorrect in any way?
Please explain your objections.

They do not have jobs that would pay for tuition and room and board at the colleges they attend. For all you know they have stocks and/or trust funds.
You're blowing smoke.

There you go, again, leaping to more conclusions. What on earth makes you think these young women do not have their own money ?

Have you seen what wedding dresses are in style these days, strapless. They are married in a church with no straps or sleeve these days, the twins look great and they are very attractive women.I can agree with you on that. In addition, I think that the wind was a factor for Jenna. You can see it wasn't calm by just looking at their hair blowing in the breeze. She was probably well covered, but the wind blew the sweater open and then caused the dress to look more form-fitting than it really was. Personally, I get aggravated at clothes when I have to "fight" with them -- for whatever reason. I want to put them on and have them stay in position.

It's the day after my birthday; I had a lot of family (according to DM, none of which seemed to be dressed approrpirately...LOL), got a lot of gifts, and am waiting around for the big party tonight!
I'm having some fun!

"the clothes aren't that bad."
True.
They could have been worse, but they could have been better. I prefer that they wore clothes that were more flattering to them and that were more in keeping with the occasion, but it is not like it was a matter of life or death.
If the President's daughter wants to be photographed in a loud green dress with spaghetti straps and with a while line running under her breasts and around her bum, that is certainly well within her rights.
On the other hand, if she does wear such a dress to Easter services, I am well within my rights to consider such behavior gauche.

I agree 100%.
They are both very good looking girls.

You aren't French, by any chance?

Well then you have three days worth to check out. See any posts that are not conservative in those three days?

They can comfort me anytime. Anytime.
I know they can both be bad girls at times, and that's wrong, but I don't care. I love those two girls. Love love love. They are hot.
To: NYC Republican
Unbelievable. These young ladies are out to help our troops, and we're bitchin' about what they're wearing. Makes me sad.

Darlin..Your comments...
"Oh, good grief. Jenna and Barbara are beautiful, high spirited young women who are rarely seen in public and after reading some of the comments here I'm not in the least surprised. Seldom have I seen so much santimonious puffery or as many assinine assumptions about anyone as had been made about the twins' appearance yesterday."
I agree 100%. Both are beaufiful young women. Who dress like young attractive women. (if this bothers thoughs who aren't as attractive....get over it!...but please refrain from the holyer-then-thou BS!

"again, trashy, as defined by YOU."
Of course, I never said that I was referring to some fashion expert's opinion.
Wearing a ragged jean jacket or that green dress is trashy for going to church, but they would be fine on other occasions.
Just to make it clear to you, it is only MY opinion.
