Barbara (L) and Jenna Bush, the daughters of U.S. President George W Bush, walk together from the Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas, April 11, 2004 after President Bush (news - web sites) and members of his family visited with soldiers wounded in Iraq (news - web sites). Bush awarded 10 purple hearts to troops recovering in the hospital, after attending an Easter Sunday Church service at a chapel within the army base in central Texas.

Doc, I am sure that you'll understand that as a true Texas lady, I'm not allowed to discuss what unmentionables I wear or not. :)

"Just ignore him...(it)...he is obviously getting a THRILL attacking other people's CHILDREN...and seems to enjoy CASTING STONES...and proclaims to be a born again Christian...he is nothing more than a DU troll...prentending to be an "appalled conservative"..."

Very impressive that you can get so many things wrong in so few words.

I am not attacking anyone's children. That the clothes that the Bush twins wore to Easter services are less than ideal is obvious to anyone with any fashion sense whatsoever.

I have never claimed to be a born again Christian, and I am only vaguely familiar with what the term born again refers to.

I am a conservative Republican, not a DU troll.

I am not an "appalled conservative" and I wonder why you put the term in quotation marks, since I never claimed to be appalled by the girls clothing and never used the term appalled once in any of my posts on this thread.

The way they dressed could have been better, but it certainly could have been much worse. I don't let little things like the fact that the Bush girls wore inappropriate clothing to Easter Services appall me.

I hope this clears up your misapprehensions.

"They are adults now."

They are adults with apparently poor fashion sense.

"And the scabs comment were just innocent??"

Check back on the thread and you will see that I did not bring up the scabs first.

I hope this helps.

That advice reminds me of an old story.........

One Sunday morning an old cowboy entered a church just
before services were to begin. Although the old man
and his clothes were spotlessly clean, he wore jeans,
a denim shirt and boots that were very worn and
ragged.

In his hand he carried a worn out old hat and an
equally worn out Bible.
The church he entered was in a very upscale and
exclusive part of the city. It was the largest and
most beautiful church the old cowboy had ever seen.
The people of the congregation were all dressed with
expensive clothes and accessories.

As the cowboy took a seat, the others moved away from
him. No one greeted, spoke to, or welcomed him. They
were all appalled at his appearance and did not
attempt to hide it.

The preacher gave a long sermon about Hellfire and
brimstone and a stern
lecture on how much money the church needed to do
God's work.

As the old cowboy was leaving the church, the preacher
approached
him and asked the cowboy to do him a favor.
"Before you come back in here again, have a talk with
God and ask him
what He thinks would be appropriate attire for
worship."

The old cowboy assured the preacher he would.

The next Sunday, he showed back up for the services
wearing the same ragged jeans, shirt, boots, and hat.
Once again he was completely shunned and ignored.

The preacher approached the man and said, "I thought I
asked you to speak to God before you came back to our
church."

"I did," replied the old cowboy.

"If you spoke to God . "what did he tell you the
proper attire should be for worshiping in here?" asked
the preacher.

"Well, sir, God told me that He didn't have a clue
what I should wear.

He says He's never been in this church before."

Stay Safe.........

I cannot believe what you just posted. To say that women who expose skin in church inflame the situation is a bit like saying that children who wear short shorts inflame the pedophile and people who wear crosses inflame the terrorists. To make a teeny excuse for that kind of man, to place one iota of burden of guilt of a woman is insane.

"The jean jacket was worn to get into the building w/o ruining her dress."

It did not go with the dress and it looks shabby. She should have worn another jacket or sweater.

"BTW, I hate that outfit SHE has on!"

LOL. The outfit is wearing her. Just goes to show ya, that even with an unlimited clothing budget anyone can still look like a "demure" sack of potatoes.

You know of course that most chemical engineering majors dress like old ladies because they have no fashion sense whatsoever.

For some reason, engineering ability and fashion sense just don't fit in the same brain.

Nope, just explaining that my daughter's behavior is not dependent on my observing her.

I hope this helps.

How do you know Barbara didn't remove the jacket once she was inside? Her dress appears to have a high neckline and is a very appropriate length for someone her height.

They are adults with apparently poor fashion sense.

BIG FRICKIN' DEAL. Then just about every 20 something has poor fashion sense. I have been checking out the online junior catalogs for some of the more trendy stores. What they wore was right in line with what the stores are selling.

They are free to choose what to wear. If it offends your far superior fashion sense then oh well. They were covered up. We saw no boobs, navels, tattoos, butt cheeks, piercings or multicolored hair. So let it rest.

We know you don't approve of their choices for Easter, but it was their free will to choose what to wear. Thank God we live in a free society where women can wear what they want to. If Osama had his way with the 9/11 attacks women would be covered from head to toe living in fear of offending some male in their family and being killed to retain the family honor.

Not in the least. Their fashion sense is very "in the moment" and age appropriate. Yours, OTOH, is struck in some 50's time warp.
