[history]
ON Saturday, Iranian agents ambushed an American convoy on the road between Mosul and Akre in Iraq. The attack did not go as planned: Our troops responded sharply, killing two Iranians, wounding a third and capturing two more.
They were carrying their identity documents.

Howcome we don't have our B52s back in the theater? They got the attention of the Republican Guard units REAL good during the 1991 war, and the ones who survived the arclight bombings got the word across to their friends and neighbors. I don't know that bringing back the BUFFs would be the answer, but at least for Fallujah, it'd be a start.

What do you think will be the subject with Mubarek today?
Will he be told to get onboard, or will it only be about Sharon/Gaza?

Why snipers?
Why not a more encompassing, more generalized solution?
Why not a MOAB or two, or three, or...

Well, when you are working with the world looking over your shoulder, things can get complicated. I don't like it either. Personally, I say kick out the media and unleash hell.
I understand your feelings though. If it were that simple, I would agree that we need to "MOAB" the hell out of them. The Truman solution in my mind would be the best. Yet, the situation is not that simple.
But I suspect there are still 'innocent' civilians still in the city willingly or as human shields. Plus, there is probably an infrastructure there that we don't want to destroy unless we have to.

We should take out Iran now--The longer we wait the worse it gets. Remember--they who are not with us, are with the terrorists? Talk about WMDs--Iran is working on one now. But, I fear, this will not happen. The wimp factor is taking hold. The terrorists know that the best way to win is by getting Kerry in power. So, they will make Bush look bad every way they can. Kidnappings, burning a few G.I.s, making Iraq look like a lawless jungle will all serve them better than a strike on US. In fact--a terrorist strike would only HELP Bush win re-election. Predictions:
1. There will be no terrorist strikes on US (other places yes but not till November 10)
2. There will be more terrible things happen in Iraq with the victims US People--not soldiers.
3. More pressure from UN, Dimocrats, Liberals, and anti-war groups and Europeeans to pull out.
Look to October as a month of Horror in Iraq in an attempt to influnce the election.
Be on guard! If Kerry gets in it will be the end of the Us as we know it.

How many countries are going to join the mix of these killers before we stop them?
I say lets get the Lib media OUT, and go in there in take this city with a swift shock & awe repeat. I don't want to step on our Constitution, but this is war and the media is just putting a lib spin on most every report. We owe it to our troops to get this city under control fast.
The last I knew reporters shoot a camera not a weapon so either they pick up a riffle and help, or start reporting the truth and help. Either way put up or shut up!!

It should be clear that the softer-gentler-let's-take-into-account-the-sensibilities-of-our-enemies approach to war fighting is a losing strategy. It failed in Korea. It failed in Vietnam. And it will fail in the Middle East. Nobody wants to see innocent civilians killed, but if it has to happen, the blame falls on these murdering, backward thugs who wish to enslave entire populations -- not on America who wishes to free them.

Most Iraqis are sitting on the fence waiting to see who is stronger. If we fail to meet the challenge to our authority, we lose the majority of the population. I hope that our diplomats don't convince Bush that world opinion will be against him or that the Iraqi populace will rise up against us if we take strong measures. We have heard that before about the Arab street. Having lived in the Middle East for 7 years, a show of strength is the only answer. Anything else is considered weakness. Notice how Hamas has been quiet lately since the Israelis got rid of their leader.
