[history]
ON Saturday, Iranian agents ambushed an American convoy on the road between Mosul and Akre in Iraq. The attack did not go as planned: Our troops responded sharply, killing two Iranians, wounding a third and capturing two more.
They were carrying their identity documents.

With the bulk of them trapped in Fallujah, why on earth let them go to kill our soldiers on another day. Take them prisoner, if they prefer to die then give up that's their choice.

Hundreds of Iranian agents and fighters have been confirmed to be in Iran. Good piece. I think the above sentence is a typo, BTW.

If we can get all those television images of insurgents walking around with arms, why cannot we get snipers in there to take them out of the picture.

Hehehehe...we probably are. I've thought the same thing at times and then I had to remember our military is not going to advertise their activities, especially to things like sniper work. Those are very secretive, very quiet. Be assured there are lots of things going on that we may never know anything about. I am quite certain that they are doing a superb job of psych-ops.
I have faith that our boys know how to instill fear in the minds of the jihad's. Remember, the "not knowing" works on the minds of the jihadis even more so than we may get worked up about.

I particularly liked the idea of allowing a convoy of Sadr
supporters into Fallajah... it could easily have been diverted -- letting them into the "roach motel" makes 'em easier to stomp out.

As this column reported last week, the extent of Iranian involvement in the recent revolt goes very deep. Yeah, they've been mixed up in this since just after major combat ended last year.
But our troops will get it done. They've made great strides in the last few days in getting things back under control.
It's almost like we're fighting Iran on Iraq's soil right now.
If it keeps up, I hope we take the fight right next door...to the east.

Now is the time to take out the Iranian nuclear reactor with a stromg word to Iran.
Remove them now or you are next once we are finished here. And then deploy twenty thousand troops to the Iranian border.

Remember that we have taken Fallujah again in less than 3 days.

Vietnam was lost by politicians fighting the war and the same thing can happen in Iraq.

politicians get the hell out of the way let the generals fight this damn war!!!!!!!President Bush has no choice.
Either he defeats them here, and imposes peace on Iraq, or he goes home in January.
The counsels of defeat in Iraq are also counsels of defeat in the election. W has nothing to lose here.

We were assured that force would be met with "overwhelming" force. This did not happen.
"Measured responce" are dirtywords that have crept into the government dialogue.
If "compromise" is added, then indeed the whiff of Chamberlain will complete the picture.

There must be some sort of condition that describes the Bush administration's aversion to closing borders. They never closed our borders after 9-11, and they have not closed either the Syrian or Iranian border in Iraq. Most troubling.

Iran leader sees U.S. 'vulnerable' in Iraq

Ex-president calls America 'wounded monster,' says military defeat would be 'valuable lesson'
WASHINGTON Providing yet more evidence that Iran is actively supporting the Shiite guerrilla forces battling U.S.-led coalition, former Iranian President Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani said the American military forces are vulnerable, describing them as a "wounded monster," and suggesting defeat would provide a "valuable lesson" for the West.
Rafsanjani, chairman of the powerful Expediency Council in Iran, says America's vulnerability in Iraq makes Iran stronger.
During Friday prayers, broadcast live by Iranian radio, Rafsanjani said deep relations between the people of Iran and the people of Iraq are causing problems for America.
"America had entered the region in order to set up a base right outside our borders, but such a base will no longer materialize," he said. "We have small accounts with the Americans which we must settle one day and bring the issue to a close."
Rafsanjani praised Moqtada Al-Sadr's "heroic" Mahdi militia.
