April 12, 2004 -- A new poll says the majority of Americans think the latest spike in Iraq violence means the United States should get tougher militarily - not retreat. The CNN-Time magazine poll also found that most Americans still believe the Iraq war was right, weren't surprised by the new attacks and are confident that the United States will regain control of areas of unrest like Fallujah.

But Democrats tilted the opposite way - 48 percent said the United States is unlikely to achieve its goals in Iraq and should reduce its military efforts... Doom, gloom, dismal, drizzle, drip, dour, abysmal.....

RE: internet sources.
Are you aware of Freeper Wretchard's blog? If not, can I suggest you check it out? There is a lot of great material there, but I call attention here to the latest item on "coincidences."

Given that Saddam had used WMD multiple times, anyone with at least two functioning brain cells knew he had them. The question was, after the inspectors left in 1998, did Saddam unilaterally disarm? Our intelligence agencies believed he hadn't and concluded he would use the absence of inspectors to rearm.
CIA National Intelligence Estimate.
This poll indicates most Democrats believe:
- All the world's intelligence agencies were wrong. The Iraqi army generals were wrong. Saddam, who forfeited his throne was wrong.
- The President knew they were all wrong. To lie, he had to knowingly tell us something that was false. One question: How would he know they were all wrong?
- Knowing there were no stockpiles of WMD, he chose to use their existence as a major justification for the war.
If number 2 is true, the President is smarter than everyone else. If number 3 is true, he's dumber than a post. Contending both attributes exist in the same person at the same time is reductio ad absurdam.

Put another way, the majority of Americans agree with the war in Iraq and favor leveling that town, while less than 50% of Demonrats think it's a bad idea.
Why are we in such a rush to leave Iraq now? Finish the job, kill everyone shooting at Americans and move on to Syria. I thought this war was suppose to last decades?

Agree. If we have 150 rats cornered in one Iraqi hellhole, this is an opportunity to remove 150 rats.
As Frankie Pantangele was heard to say to his Godfather, "Lets hit em now, while we've got the muscle."

Bush never said he believed Iraq had WMDsI think that its short hand for a "belief based on evidence". For example, juries believe someone is guilty..based on the evidence,...christians believe Jesus is Christ,.....based on the evidence.

LOL......it's a wonder you got the meaning of my post. I see I made lots of typos! sheesh!

If you recall some of the stock footage of Saddam at the end of a long table surrounded by his top Baathist advisors/lieutenants, two of those advisors included "Madame Anthrax" and "Doctor Germ (Huda Ammash and Rahib Taha). They weren't there as Saddam's grand statement to the Arab World about gender englightenment.

Sampson,
I also appreciate your honesty. I apologize for any ad hominem attacks made by others. You've done nothing to deserve it.
Please keep posting, as it contributes to true dialogue. I have many friends that are liberals, and while we disagree, we are still able to keep it civil, and ultimately retain our friendships.

As the liberal media in this country increases it's attack on our President there will be a corresponding increase in the attacks on our troops in Iraq.
The time to make those responsible aware of the consequences of their actions is now, before any more troops are attacked.

Last night on the local news here in Albuquerque they showed the homecoming of a lady sergeant with the Army's Airborne unit who had been away for 15 months. She apparently worked on civil pacification in Iraq. She arrived at the airport to be received by relatives and friends. When the other people standing in line to go through security saw her and the reception, they all started applauding.
She was interviewed by the TV station and told them upfront, and these are her words, that despite the media bias, the majority of the Iraqi people, and especially those she worked with, are happy that we liberated them. She also stated that she would go back and do it all over again if she needed to.
I was very happy for her and also that our military people understand our true purpose in going there, unlike the media and the opposition politicans. If I see an article about this, I will post it here.

As soon as I read this article, I thought "Yep, Common Tator was right once again."
