FALLBROOK, Califorina (AP) -- -- The elderly parents of Grammy-winning recording artist "Weird Al" Yankovic were found dead in their home, apparently victims of carbon monoxide poisoning, officials said.
Nick and Mary Yankovic were found dead Friday in their suburban San Diego home by relatives who were worried because they had not seen the couple in a while, said sheriff's Sgt. Conrad Grayson.

Attempts to reach "Weird Al" Yankovic, 44, by telephone through his agency, the William Morris Agency, were unsuccessful Saturday.
You've got to be kidding! A reporter called to find out how Weird Al feels about his parent's tragic death. Is there no shame?

oh they like to be right "on the story" ... 20 years ago, my father was shot twice (survived) in a robbery in his store ... after I got there (had already been to the hospital, saw him before surgery, then went to the store) I recradled the phone and instantly a reporter was on there to "get the store" ...
then the idiots gave his address on TV and the guys hadn't been caught yet (they were later) ... I called up the station and really let them have it ...

Oh, man, does this suck. Sympathies out to Al and his family. Man, this seems way out of place.

It'll be known as "Al's Law" - no more fireplaces.

A terrible tragedy. Prayers for Al, who's always made me laugh. I even bought "UHF" on DVD. Even Al makes fun of "those people"...

It'll be known as "Al's Law" - no more fireplaces. Can somebody please explain how a fire in a fireplace can produce enough carbon monoxide to kill every inhabitant in a house?
To: New Horizon
A wood fire had been set recently in the fireplace, Grayson said. "The house was full of smoke when they opened the door," Grayson said, adding that the family members found the flue closed. Carbon monoxide poisoning, or smoke inhalation?

CO2 is carbon dioxide (the gas we exhale), I believe you mean CO, carbon monoxide!

if the flue doesn't vent properly, the CO will build up first without as much noticeable smoke ... a closed flue, will build up smoke quickly, being very obvious ... but an improperly venting flue is insidious, it can cause the victims, especially if they are sleeping near the fire, to pass out and be rendered unconscious taking them to their deaths ...
a good CO detector set at the proper distance from a fireplace (not right next to it, because it might give off false warnings) is probably a good idea ...
I was so busy with my HTML I made an error in the original post ... thanks to the one who corrected me ...

Tragic. Apparently they approved of Weird Al's career. There aren't many who make a decent career in music.

A few years ago a dentist I know of had an accident at home with he and his family, it was touch and go for them all. One family member still has problems.
