We need to forget about world opinion and let Israel get into this fight. We are holding them back.

Many suspect Mr. Hamill of being only another anti-war activist, looking to effect U.S. operations in Iraq.

We'll know soon enough.

Is this the guy from Macon, Mississippi? If so, I just saw him on FOX news a few minutes ago being shoved into the car by those sons of camels, and the (knowing) look on his face told the whole story, and really got to me.

It's long past time we take off our freakin' kid gloves and start slaughtering these worthless vermin. .....by the thousands. Yeah, most of the world will be outraged, but what the f/k are they going to do about it?

I thought he was a contractor, or perhaps I'm thinking of another guy?

That's what's under discussion. If he's not an anti-war collaborator, we will all be chagrined at his death.

If he is, like those three Japanese, he'll disappear from the news.

Yes, he is from Macon, Miss. It was heart-rending to see him in that car and being driven away. We really need to either fish or cut bait --- and I vote for fishing.

There are people (civilians) in Iraq who habitually ignore the military with respect to safe areas to travel, and go off alone without security. Every civilian over there has been briefed multiple times about where they can travel, how they should travel, and WHEN they should travel. There are people who insist on having their own conversations and negotiations with Iraqis, looking for that "big story" that will make their career. The security contractors are VERY careful; even more so after the ambush of those who (while ignoring advice) when off with Iraqis on their own. There are people at the Pentagon who are very concerned that some people just turn up 'kidnapped', with cameras ready to roll, reporters from Al-Jazerra standing by to shove microphones in their face the moment the incident occurs. I don't know the facts about this guy personally; I only mentioned what others have said to me about there being suspicions. We do know that the Japanese 'hostages' were just activists who were never in danger, who failed to get what they wanted because Kozumi hung tough.

I have my suspicions, but I dont have facts for you.

Thank you. Your explanation lays it out perfectly: stupid is as stupid does v. unlucky.

The last thing we need is hostage-taking upsetting this operation.

Thanks again.

No zot needed for such foolishness

If FR was run by Roberts Rules many of us would be zotted.

The last thing we need is hostage-taking upsetting this operation.

And every contractor over there knows that.

This guy may be legit, but I doubt it very much.

I fear we've lost over there, which means we will lose over here.

Wow, lot of defeatism out there tonight. How about giving our guys another day or two before unilaterally surrendering, what say?

Get a grip, chicken littles!

Exactly right, I completely agree. But get the asbestos out: I predict the "civilized" flamers here will be "shocked! shocked I tell you!" at such sentiments, and start their puerile mantra about how that "drags us down to their level" etc., etc.

I had heard on the radio speculation that the Japanese "hostages" had planned their kidnapping with the
militants. Supposedly, this was done, with their cooperation, to try to force the Japanese government to withdraw its troops.

The Germans are being investigated too, but I dont have any details. Could be that every 'hostage' over there is a hoax.

Yes, I have been watching this with interest. I do not see any facts in this connection, however, respecting Hamill, the US hostage, just hints on the Board of "suspicion"--

There wasn't any siege until these morons attacked the aid workers last week. Are the morons Muslim? No, they are apostic.

Of course they're morons. Fanatical morons. Look at their former leader Saddam. We drag him out of a hole, hiding like some beggar that just stole some cheap wine from the local greedymart.

These people have medieval minds, with middle age thoughts and mix in a nice large dose of religious fanaticism, and presto... Instant, drug free, suicidal psychopath.
