Q: Why was this PDB prepared?

DCI Tenet has already described the genesis of this PDB item in a letter to the 9-11 Commission dated March 26, 2004. This PDB item was prepared in response to questions President Bush asked his PDB briefer. The President had seen previous intelligence reports about possible al-Qa'ida threats to U.S. targets outside the United States. The President had asked whether any of the information pointed to a possible attack inside the United States. When this PDB item was presented to the President on August 6, 2001, his PDB briefer told him that it was prepared in response to the President's previous questions.

The only report I heard was from some blonde haired guy with NBC, reporting from Crawford. A "David" somebody maybe? Sorry, I don't watch enough to know one from the other. At any rate, he gave the impression that this was an alarming memo for Bush, and would cause him a great problem! (Don't ask me to quote the guy; he just gave the impression of the memo causing the President a lot more problems.)

I think it could be seriously damaging. What this says is, the White House knew what bin Laden was capable of planning, where he intended to do it, which was New York or Washington, D.C., how he was going to do it. There was only one thing missing, which was exactly when he was going to do it, which turns out to be September 11.

Fox News or maybe it was MSNBC was talking about this memo and mentioned that at the G-7 meeting earlier that year, there'd been a threat that an airplane might be used to crash into the building where they were meeting.

If I recall correctly all planes were restricted from air space around this location because of all the heads of stated that were there

The partisan media is trying to make people believe that the President and his advisors knew of the impending attacks and did nothing. This is a LIE and they know it, but I'm not surprised they're beating that drum. We just have to make sure we tell everyone who brings up the subject the TRUTH!! According to Condi, (and the Commission had the copy of the briefing, so they'd know if she were not telling the truth), there were reports that bin Laden WANTED to strike the US, but there were no specific plans known at the time. For the Dems or their lapdog media to say that the President should have 'locked down' the transportation system, or any such thing is ridiculous!
