Perhaps the royal train of Spain was traveling with cocaine.Unlike the other royal families of the present and of history, the royal family of Spain have been paragons of virtue and would never stoop (ala Billy-Goat Clinton, et al) to snorting something up their noses.

You know, a truly classy individual would have taken this situation with some aplomb, instead of throwing a fit like some spoiled-rotten brat.

The U.S. State Department requires 72 hours notice to arrange for expedited security screening in a private area. The prince's people called with six hours notice. I'd say the "prince's people" screwed up. And the screeners responded appropriately.
Royals are no better than anybody else. Despite what they've been told since birth.

We'd feel upset, too, if somebody important in our government were searched by some low-level employee at some foreign airport. Actually, no, I wouldn't. I don't share your disdain for people you call "low-level".
I flew from Charlotte, NC to Houston, TX where my bags were searched. I showed them my military ID card, and that didn't stop the search. If Americans don't trust military service members to fly on our civilian aircraft without being subject to random searches, then this arrogant future King of Spain can deal with it, too.

You know, there have been Brits who say Americans don't speak English. They say that they can't understand what they are saying.

And what would be said if someone managed to sneak something into the "Princes" luggage and blew the plane out of the air killing all on board....Would it be said by those elitists among us that those stupid amateurish dolts at TSA permitted or actually abetted their needless demise through gross criminal negligence....You betcha....And why should anyone be free from search. We depend on each other for our safety.Any individual or group (Special People) routinely exempted from said would become a prime candidate for a C4 suppository.

It's not disdain. There are simply some TSA workers who don't behave very nicely with the public, and that's the reason the TSA itself maintains a special crew for dealing with foreign dignitaries. The Prince and entourage should have kept their mouths shut, but at the same time, I have seen some very insulting behavior on the part of some TSA staff that would be hard to take if you weren't an American who was used to it.
I think the whole thing was probably handled very badly, and there was obviously nobody there initially who had the authority to resolve it. Miami is an important airport, and I think they should be better prepared for dealing with situations like this.
I would suspect it was Iberia that dropped the ball on providing timely information, and now the airline (a semi-privatized former state monopoly which is hated and ridiculed in Spain for its lousy service and rude personnel) is trying to cover its posterior.

If a future king is going to take public transportation...he should know the rules. Read the article..
The "royal couple" came in on a chartered flight..
That is NOT public transportation.. It is Private..
As for the rest of this flap, I have 2 words..
Diplomatic Immunity..

...there have been Brits who say Americans don't speak English...I believe that.
There are many Americans that I can't understand, and I'm not just speaking of the utterly ridiculous and contrived black ebonics. Of course this asinine rap and hip-hop garbage hasn't helped one bit.
Some Americans speak English so poorly that one knows it's proof that today's grammar school education is bent on a more sinister agenda.

This is a country of laws, not men. If this guy wants special treatment because of who he is, he should only travel to countries that pander to the rich and famous and treat their regular people like dirt. North Korea is lovely this time of year.
And this guy has no right to claim that, "We are your ally." His common people voted the other way a few weeks ago. He needs to catch up on the local news when he gets home.
What exactly does the Crown Prince of Spain do, anyway? Why do they even have one?

My bad.. commercial out of MIA..
Still, the Diplomatic Immunity applies...

Crown Prince Felipe of Spain and his fiancée pitched a royal fit...You'll notice, of course, Frank, that this article was posted from the socialist Miami Herald.
These socialists papers (unfortunately about 88% of America's newspapers are controlled by these neo-commies)color the stories, and if you read the entire article you'll see that the Prince wasn't quoted at all because he didn't say anything about the incident.

...the royal family of Spain have been paragons of virtue.Almost. It's an open secret the King has been a skirt chaser. When it's talked about, hushed tones are used. The rest of the family certainly is a paragon of virtue, to use you words.
