If the dollar is likely to hold at year 2000 less 10-20%...

Hmmm. Is your choice of 2000 arbitrary or purposeful? I mean, if purposeful it really isn't a good year to have an honest look at things as the dollar was by any reasonable standard at it's absolut inflated peak in 2000-2001 timeframe.

The percentage is arbitrary, however I pick 2000 specifically because it was a peak. There is still alot of structure (e.g. what we see currently in the bugets of the individual states) which develop based on those assumptions.

(1) The government is not resposible for your success or failure. (2) You're having a tough time now but if you suck it up and do soething new you will find success on your own. (3) Global competion is here to stay, so get competitive and enjoy the fruits of your labors. (4) Or better yet start your own business.

Wow! Four Free Traitor platitudes in one post. Got to be a record. I guess if you practice long enough, you can rattle them off from memory.

Deal with reality dude, it is NOT now nor has it EVER BEEN the President of the United States job to make sure you or any other American has a job. Corporations exist ENTIRELY to make profit, they are not now nor have they ever been in the business of worrying about the country. If a company can't make a profit in America then it is their DUTY to find someplace else to make a profit.

Exactly!!! Well said. It's also not a citizens duty to overpay for a lower quality product just because it's made in America by a grumpy union worker.

The issue often isn't whether the business can sustain itself (which it obviously must run a profit to do), it's how much money it can make in the short term. But at what cost? The cost is not just in US jobs, it's in feeding this or that corrupt regime.

People aren't going to stand for being told they have to be professional students and be displaced everytime they sneeze because their employers can't be trusted, are unreliable and basically liars. And it doesn't seem to occur to any of you how subversive that is. As I've noted many times, ya'll are brewin the ingredients for a war.

Maybe not a war. More like a revolution.

Fifty percent of OUR OWN CITIZENS are below the median in IQ level.

This is unacceptable!!! I blame Mexico and India. We need a government program to insure that 100% of our citizens are above the median IQ level.

please cite your reference:
"Corporations exist ENTIRELY to make profit, they are not now nor have they ever been in the business of worrying about the country. If a company can't make a profit in America then it is their DUTY to find someplace else to make a profit. "
----

Section 8.
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

MEANING – WE, THE PEOPLE GRANT, CONGRESS THE RIGHT TO LEVY AND COLLECT TAXES, NOT THE EXCUTIVE BRANCH.

Right, so Algores telephone tax is illegal.

To regulate commerce with foreign nations,

MEANING – WE, THE PEOPLE, GRANT CONGRESS THE RIGHT TO REGULATE COMMERCE, NOT THE EXECTUVE BRANCH, OR THE UN

You mixing up the duty of a corporation with the powers of the government?

If the money is devalued and people earn less of it, that translates into an efective multiplying of our debt load because it then takes longer to pay it down.

Take a deep breath before you hurt yourself. If the currency is devalued vs other currencies like the Yen and Euro that makes our goods cheaper, we sell more, their goods more expensive, we buy less. Doesn't hurt our debt load or reduce our incomes.

This would help us and you. Except for making oil more expensive, and we should get our own out of Alaska anyway.

Not at all - but you seem to think there is no regulation of commerce, and corporations can do what they want. And the constitution specifically cites this responsibility as one of congress.

We grant corporations ability to exist and perform commerce, not the otherway around.

Corporations have no rights.

[Southack:] dropping the value of the U.S. Dollar only impacts 4% of our GDP.

[ARCADIA:] Oh BTW, if our imports are SOoooo insignificant then why don't we just seal the borders and make everyone happy? It is just 4% right?!?!

Are you treating freetraders with logic?! Not fair.

Make what? Our factories are moving to china - we export nothing to them. The trade deficit is now $500 billion per year. We don't export enough to make any money, because we don't make anything anymore, for use here or for export.

Go overseas, and try to find anything american made. Go to walmart and try to find anything amercan made.

Duh ???

Wow, are you in favor of nationalization now?

336 - I just bought a new pair of glasses. I tried to get some American made frames. Apparently we no longer make glasses in this country.

At 5 places I went, they only had Japanese, Chinese and Korean frames. No one had seen any american frames in years.

So - if we have a war with the orient, we go blind, as we have no glasses factories in this country.

Stop it!! You're killing me!! I can't breathe!!

You make me laugh. I can assure you XBob that even if we shipped out all Americans who fell below the median IQ, if you measured the IQ of everyone who was left, you'd find that somehow 50% were once again below the median.
