A Priest Lake man killed his neighbor's 2-pound miniature Yorkshire terrier by kicking it into the air like a football, police said, and authorities have charged him with animal cruelty.

Jelani Lewis and Jessica McKenzie say they are outraged at the death of their 17-year-old pet, Gizmo. Lewis said he watched helplessly early yesterday as three men assaulted the dog the way football players kick field goals.

I realize it's rage toward an injustice...but I found myself calling for the complete annihilation of Fallajah too, based upon a couple of hundred morons with no jobs who killed 4 American workers...albeit probably CIA.

Both are based on a rationale of deterrence in addition to simple desire for vengeance. In this case, anyone who would do this to an animal needs to be taught, good and hard, to fear punishment... or else he will graduate to human victims. In the Fallujah case, there is a core group of Islamofascists who will only be stopped by death or the fear of death.

"I guarantee-- GUARANTEE-- they would beg me to kill them after 30 minutes. The shredders of Iraq would be preferable to what I would have in store for these scum sucking vermin."

At the very least.

Along these lines, and I am serious, if someone did this to one of my pets, and I hunted down the perps and beat them to death with a baseball bat or a tire iron, how many Freepers on a jury would vote to convict me of murder?

I might vote for a littering conviction if you didn't clean up the mess.

In a few years he will be in the news again, probably for killing a child or an elderly person in a wheelchair. Some wretched people are just wired wrong from the beginning -- no conscience. Fear of punishment might keep such a person in line, but nothing will reform him or give him a conscience.

*** DING DING DING *** No more calls; we have a winner!

Most dog owners will tell you right off the bat that there is no such thing as just "a dog." My dogs are my kids, especially the youngest. When it comes to him, if I have to choose between saving him from say, a speeding car, or saving that person. Well, I hope that guy can move fast.

Yes, we have hawks too and are much more careful outside now with Gizmo than we were with Oscar, sadly.
Yorkies are great though, afraid of nothing too hilarious

"Have you read all these posts calling for the death of the perp? It's a dog for Crissakes!"

Uh, and your point is? To some of us our pets are more than domesticated animals: They are an integral and loving mewmber of the family. For some of us, they are like our children, especially those of us who for one reason or another were not able to have children. I would defend, with my life if necessary, ANY member of my family.

I totally understand your rationale.

I have 2 Ragdoll cats. The younger little girl will be one year old end of May. All my friends threaten to steal her...she is such a gentle spirit.

Getting unconditional love is one of the joys of life.

My "problem" was the gang mentality calling for the death of this 23 year-old moron.

"If anyone did that to my dog, they'd be dead. Plain and simple."

Yup.

Please let there be a special place in hell for people like this.

And YES, I do get this upset over the murder of human beings as well.

"Defending" is appropriate.

Murdering the perp after the terrible deed is not appropriate.

I was thinking about this last night and thought that I would probably just beat the dogsh*t out of the guy.

As far as the dog roaming loose, Nashville is bad about letting dogs run loose in packs. I moved out to Longmont, Colorado and they have leash laws here which are actually enforced. I like it. No dog poop on your lawn, no Pitbulls attacking your children.

Now this is someone I'd support PETA in going after!

But the punk Crawford isn't KFC or McDonalds, so they probably won't be interested in little ole Gizmo.

After 17 yrs, Giz was definelty a member of this family.

Well, after seeing a photo of this "moron", I could see
a case for taking him to the animal shelter and having him put to sleep.

Sounds like justifiable homicide to me. I'd acquit you.

"However heinous this moster's act was, human life is worth more than a dog's life."

It depends on the human, and it depends on the dog.

I notice another thread circulating right now saying that the guy who shot dead the person attempting to steal his car is being charged with MURDER (in California no less).

Car equals personal property. Pet equals persoanl property (in the eyes of the law)

A 2-pound dog? Good lord, that's 1/10th the size of my cat.

We have some neighbors with Yorkies. They come out yapping at my dog when we're out on our walks. He always tilts his head at me, seeming to say, "I don't get it."
