we are fighting hatred and ignorance in Iraq. And let's not kid ourselves, we are fighting those exact same things here at home also. The Dems, the american left, the media shills.
What's going on in Iraq may well be classifed as a skirmish by military standards. The real war is here at home.

Thanks for the heads up Carnac. You will see that Islam is a cancer that must be eradicated before it spreads too far.

Yes. These are firefights, not major battles. This is one small element of the Shia population. The only people we ever battled were Shia and Sunnis who hate us. This isn't a change. The people we "defeated" just ran away to fight another day-- when they could get an advantage (as opposed to running into our bayonets last April). They didn't sign a cease-fire with us. Why will these people stop hating us? Whatever they end up with won't satisfy them. Will the Shia be satisfied with not having the power they saw that Saddam had? Will the Sunni be happy about enjoying less special rights than they had under Saddam? Will the Kurds be happy to not be as autonomous as they were or to not be independent as they really want to be? No one is going to really be happy about how things end up. In fact, all we have now are interim documents. There's nothing stopping the Shia from exercising their super-majority strength to get a constitution they'll be even happier with and that will piss off the rest of the country more.

An aide to Sadr himself said (quoted in OJ's Best of the Web Today), I think), "If we can't get the Americans out of Iraq, we can at least get Bush out of the White House." So you are right. This is DIRECTLY aimed not only at our soldiers -- but at our President -- and our political process.

Kinda of like the support jane fonda gave the viet cong.

You know, ,I was all set to come on this thread breathing fire like Godzilla at those here who are slamming the President at this time. Just a couple of years ago, I might still have. Now, I've served in this war myself for two and a half years. So I won't do that now, I'm just too tired an disgusted.
Instead, right now, I'm only going to wish those Jarheads the best of luck and health from a Squid who is proud of 'em.
And now, I'm bowing my head, in respect for those brothers who have died this day.
I am only a Sailor, guys, I don't carry a rifle for a living and I don't normally get shot at, but I'm on your side, and I assure you, in the sense that all servicemen feel the deaths of others in some way, I and all of my swabbies felt yours.
I call you Brothers because you ARE, and because you WERE, and because, damn it, you were here, were called, and went, all the way to Glory.
Rest Easy, Marines. You're missed.

I not only intend to vote for Bush, I will vote for him. I intend to is what Clinton kept saying when he wanted credit for something he would never follow through with. Today's events have just about made up my mind for me on a related matter, I think my son and I will go volunteer to work for the local Bush office.

What a great logically fallacious argument Big liberal words may get through the halls of the Brookings Institution, but mean diddly her on FR, IMO.
