Most Iraqi wives meet their 30 year old husbands on their wedding day at about age 15. It's an interesting comparison, to meet some American soldierss who don't push and shout and beat you. The social dynamics at work in Iraq must be off the chart now, as these cultures collide. It's possible that a lot of the jihadi jerk anger is directed against our troops because their wives are getting their eyes opened to the wider world.

This is reminiscent of Somalia. Even though it was a hellacious firefight and we lost 19, we killed well over 1000 bad guys. It wasn't a quagmire...it was a route. With a little more support and a little less Clinton, we would have gone back in and finished the job.

In this case, the hew and cry is the same...quagmire, we've angered the locals, it's all our fault, etc. etc. etc....BUT everything else is different. We have the support, we have overwhelming military capacity and we have the guts to STICK to the plan and make it work.
