By the standard of a few dozen Marines in a compound that "have the duty of protecting their turf while engaging and defeating 70 attackers. 20-30 enemies going prone to provide covering fire while 50 attackers make their move is nothing to sneeze at, especially when the enemy probably knows every weakness of the place they're assailing. These Marines weren't holed up in a substantial fortress, just a walled compound. But again, we don't know the details yet. Still confused by the "wave after wave" reports."
We are arrayed like this to avoid presenting high value targets like barracks or dorms would present. Remember Beirut and Khobar. To do this right, our guys need pin point and fast tactical support or they are dead in short order. You can't fire when you can't lift your head.

I don't agree with his delivery but Savage seems to be the only one who understands how this country is going to hell in a hand basket and that people need to wake up and smell the roses!

"If we're getting heavy fire I say take the perps positions out."
Well al-Sadr's thugs are easy to spot. Black t-shirts and green headbands. Trust me I've been up close with those guys. In that gard they stand out in even the largest gathering in Baghdad.

McInerney got mad ....you could see it....One of these days one of these military guys is going to nail O'Reily right between the eyes. I'd love to hear them ask him how much time he spent learning military tactics and where did he learn them? Armchair generals make me sick.

That is one thing Ailes should do right away - his hosts should not be able to hawk their books, their shirts, mugs, door mats, none of that crap.

I do not understand what people are thinking when they say he is conservative. The only reason people say O'Reilly is a conservative is because he doesn't swoon and slobber over the Hollyweird assclowns like Clooney, Penn, Robbins, Madonna, etc. when they make jackasses of themselves with their idiotic anti-Bush and anti-America ravings. O'Reilly will actually call them on their stupid statements, unlike 99.9% of the rest of the mediots who just strap on the kneepads and screech like prepubescent girls at a boy-band concert. These days, that alone is enough to earn you the media pejorative of "conservative."

Ailes doesn't know how much stock I have...and neither do you. And I am writing to Ailes because he is in charge of the channel and needs to hear from viewers. What's so foolish about that?

We're just starting into winter...lots of wind and cold...although it freezes every night even in the middle of summer. Colder here than my wonderful home in Idaho.
To: BushMeister
We have to get real here, BushMeister.
We should know what is happening.
If the Marines were turned loose with everything they have we wouldn't have twelve dead Marines - we'd have a thousand dead Iraqis.
Politics is running the show.
Shades of VietNam...........
To: Eurotwit
The American people had BETTER have the will, the alternative is to be dead. Some haven't figured that out yet, but their going to real quick.

"He won't have such a smug smile after I write to Ailes."
Yes, I'm sure he'll be very upset about it. She can write whatever she wants. If she doesn't mind sounding silly, I don't mind that she sounds silly.

A dictatorship like Saddam's seems to be the natural state of Iraqi society. These people aren't going to fight for their freedom. If they would even put in a minimal effort, it would save lots of US soldiers lives, but they aren't.

The Chileans are pretty advanced in their environmental programs...but still reasonable. Being I work for a multinational mining company, we pretty much do things everywhere at the same standards as we do in North America.
To: ItisaReligionofPeace
I don't mind sounding silly.
And I guess you don't mind sounding as pompous as O'Reilly.

That is one thing Ailes should do right away - his hosts should not be able to hawk their books, their shirts, mugs, door mats, none of that crap.Good idea...and their guests should also be restricted in self-promotion.
To: Cuttnhorse
What kind of mine? My husband was a mining engineer for many years, but since they closed the Indiana coal fields he has moved on to civil engineering.
