My fax to Gov. Bush re: Driver Licenses for illegal aliens (Send him a copy!)

Governor Jeb Bush
PL 05 The Capitol
400 South Monroe Street
Tallahassee, FL 32399-0001

Dear Gov. Bush:

Ever since I came to Florida, I’ve been duly impressed by you both as a person and as a leader. I cannot, however, stand behind your intention to allow illegal aliens to obtain driver licenses. Indeed, I strongly oppose it, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that it does not come to pass.

Allow me to elucidate. These people are called “illegal aliens” because they entered our country illegally. They should not even be here. Granted, it is not possible to round them up and deport each one of them, but a policy of attrition—sealing our borders and making it as unpleasant as possible to live here illegally—will ensure that the illegals deport themselves.

You said, “We shouldn’t allow them to come into our country to begin with. But once they're here, what do you do? Do you say that they're lepers to society? That they don't exist? It seems that a policy that ignores them is a policy of denial.” Mr. Bush, not allowing illegal aliens access to public services is not an act of denial. Allowing them access to public services—especially with our borders still as porous as they are—violates the spirit of having immigration laws, is a slap in the face to the millions of foreigners lined up to enter this country legally, and only encourages more foreigners to cut ahead and enter illegally. They will see this as a message that there are no consequences for breaking our laws.

That brings me to my next concern. Governor, I appreciate the plight of immigrants who come here to work and to seek a better life. My great-grandparents were immigrants from Austria-Hungary and Scandinavia. I am worried, however, that a significant minority of immigrants—especially illegal aliens—is not assimilating into American culture. It is one thing for them to hold on to their customs and roots. It is another thing for them to live in America and not speak English, even expect others to learn Spanish to accommodate them. Not all of us learned Spanish in primary and secondary school, Mr. Bush. Many of us do not have the time or energy to learn it now.

If we are to have a stable society that allows people to pursue their dreams and that truly makes life better for those who look longingly upon our shores, we must have one language and enforce our tried and proven laws and Constitution. Granting illegal aliens driver licenses does neither of these things—and worse, given the high public animosity toward illegal immigration, it could spell defeat for you and your brother in Florida; just look at California. I don’t want that to happen, and neither, I suspect, do you.

So how did he respond?

I was going to guess his responce, and had one in mind. But I better keep it to myself.

If you don't get a response, fax them an all black piece of paper, a few dozen times.

Hey, that's basically the same thing the liberal leftist screw worm Gray Davis from California said.

Is Governor Bush reading Gray Davis's old notes?

I just wonder how the Globalists will refer to the America of the future. Will it be called "North-MexAmerica"? "El Norte of Amerika"? "North Americas--Central Region"? Any one else have an idea on what the United States of America will be called after FTAA is signed by Bush (or Kerry)?

"Bush Country"?

I think Meximerica is a fair and a politically correct name.

And the song "Macaraina" could be the National Anthem. Just think how cool it will look as the million man conga-line coming across the border will all be shuking and jiving to the tune.

Yes! And I was thinking I stood alone. I too live in Fla. and don't and won't speak Spanish. I think it must be a waste of money to have to print everything from ballots to road signs in both English and Spanish, why? This is America and my forefathers chose English as the speak so speak it. Try making a phone call, you get the automatic reply in English and Spanish, Why?, ever try calling the Social Security office....Jeb, hmmmmmm you're quickly losing my favor in your quest for the Spanish vote....

"... I can tell you that letters that are identical or similar do not result in a positive effect."

While this is generally a true statement, in this specific case Summer brought the fax to the personal attention of Jeb Bush. Therefore a count of similar faxes would have different weight. I do know that Jeb reads and personally responds to emails - of course not all of them - so don't misunderestimate the benefit of contacting this governor.
