Too bad. Finney puts out a great column.
So, no linking of anything Gannett, anywhere in the post, including this (the text of the post) field?

Those poor publishers. First, no one wanted to buy their newspapers, now no one wants to visit their crummy little sites.
If only they would publish something truthful, and in the public interest, maybe people would trust them again and buy papers.
One thing Id love to see here is a screen which allows us to test root domain names, to see whether we can post from them or not. The fastest workaround is clunky (pretend to start a topic, and just paste in the desired URL in all fields, then preview) and the software already prevents posting from blocked sites. A link to the screen could be included on every page? Is something like that feasible?

These publishers have asked us not to allow any material at all to be posted to FR:
Does this means no title or link?
Can one talk about an article that might come from one of these in our own words and a foot note or where one might read more with out a link?
I might not even use any of those places also if this is not a thread, but in general conversation many times to save time I just do a title and link in a post.
That is going to be hard for the mods to monitor all of this and many times poster are not thinking about it.
We always have been lucky with the threads for they alert us that it is not accepted.
Maybe in the area where you list-
SCOTUS | ProLife | Terrorism | WOT | Korea | PreWarDocs | Aliens | BangList | Taxes | Homosexual Agenda | Corruption | Congress | Bush | Elections | Rally | WalterReed | TalkRadio | CitizensReportonIraq (.pdf file) | Gathering of Eagles | Donate to FR
you could also list “copyright list.” for connivance.
Thank you
I really appreciate FR

I think it is too. I see full page articles posted all the time at FireSociety but FireSociety seems to be a Ron Paul supporter hangout. I'm a Fred supporter and when I post opinions or unflattering articles about Ron Paul they start screaming about slander, libel, etc. Copyright infringement never seems to be an issue over there.
Under the fair use doctrine, how can a site disallow ANY ‘snippets’ to be posted?
I get a message that OPEDNEWS.com is not welcome on FR. In searching the list of companies I do not find OPEDNEWS.com
Did I miss it?
If it is not welcome, it it like posting DU articles or dailyKos?
Trying to post this article. The writer puts it very well.

FR is a for profit corporation. The fact it does not charge fees or take advertising is meaningless. A “donation” is only a voluntary fee.
In other words, FR does not meet the statutory requirements for fair use. Jim could argue that by adding commentary, the nature of the product has been transformed, but that would probably be a long shot.

I still don’t get it - other for profit sites (e.g. Best of the Web @ www.opinionjournal.com) excerpt the work of others (with links provided) everyday.
Jim,
I checked the do not post list before posting an article from the New York Sun. I did not find it but when I went to post it I was informed it is an “excerpt only” site. Please check this. Thanks

It’s a case of the documentation lagging behind the software. nysun.com is now on the excerpt only list.
