Dan Rather: Poor Economy Leads to Civilian Deaths in Iraq
Boortz/Rush | 4/5/04 | CWB

Posted on 04/05/2004 9:20:41 AM PDT by cwb

Rush is talking about this now, but Neil also mentioned it earlier on his show. Dan Rather began his newscast by lamenting the deaths of the civilian contractors in Iraq. But instead of focusing on the brutality of the enemy, Rather found it neccessary to say that their deaths may have been a result of a failing US economy as "workers" search out employment in the war zone of Iraq. It was the most ignorant, partisan thing I've heard in a long time...and of course, it was just plain wrong.

Rush is talking about it now for those who didn't hear it.

I know when I'm out of work I usually set fire to people and drag them through the streets. Doesn't everyone? I mean, who doesn't?

If Dan Rather were a fish he'd be a big dumb bass.

The news media is no longer news so why does America keep watching? Until we control the remote control and boycott these DNC advertisers, they will continue their biased reporting of the news...

"Dan Rather: It is time for you to go."

A regime change at CBS? I like it.

You missed the point there. He's talking about Americans looking for jobs overseas because our economy is so bad. You know, Americans like me who are IT workers watching their jobs go to India (not that I'm tempted to work in Iraq when I lose my job.)

Danny Boy, Osama could have had a million great construction jobs; he could have built gorgeous CITIES for his people. He had the experience and the education. He had plenty of money. What was his excuse?

Actually Rather missed the point as well. These guys did not leave the US to work in Iraq due to a lack of work in the US.

IT, unfortunately is currently going through what many other industries has gone through in the past. However I do not support government intervention.

I know that Dan Blather is an idiot but I was dumbfounded when I heard the excerpt on Rush's show. To actually blame the economy for the death of those Vets that gave their life is beyond the pale.

It is time for that simpleton to retire.

What was so disengenuous about his statment is that many of these so-called civilians are specifically contracted through the very companies the Left hates, to do these jobs. Employees of Haliburton, Becktell, Brown and Kellog, etc, know exactly what the dangers are. But instead of praising these selfless individuals for giving their lives for the people of Iraq, Rather makes it sound as if these were people standing in Breadlines back here in America, who got dragged over to Iraq to do a job because they had no work, elsewhere.

You are right, I did miss the point. I misread the article in my haste.

Actually I had an, shall we say, "interesting year" and during this time put my name in the hat to go to Iraq with about half a dozen different companies. I was led to do some soul-searching, because I just assumed they would be calling any day for me to go over... But I thought, I can't expect some kid to go for private's wages if I'm not willing to go myself.

As it happens, I didn't get the call, and am back in my chosen profession here. But nevertheless I take it personally when these guys are targeted, because it could well have been me.

My son's guard unit has been notified that they will deploy overseas in 2004. Where is "overseas" they haven't been told. Still, again, I take all this personally.

FLASHBACKS

Dan Rather [trolling again on the frequency of murder, mayhem and terror]: "Mr. President, if only you knew how
much I and others at CBS support you and Castro rather than our unelected (sic) Bush."

Terrorist-Murderer Saddam: "Mr, Rather, it is absolutely remarkable that you media girly men
will repeatedly betray the USA, your President, and even the free American people during war
and for so very little. You and Mr. Cronkite are truly amazing.
Do you realize, Mr. Rather, that for millions and millions of Iraqis and my captives
I had to gang rape each man's children and his wife,
and then burn them in nitric acid, and mutilate them by cutting off at least an ear,
and then force them to watch me push their children through a paper shredder.
Mr. Rather, I used to have to remove testicles and arms before we have every seen such betrayal.
But you and CBS, grovel to me ...... ..... for ..... for nothing.
Thank you, Mr. Rather.
Thank you. We, terrorists, al Qaeda, and Baathists worldwide,
are very very very very lucky to have you at our feet, Mr. Rather.
If anything happens to me, take care of my Baathists and Mr. Castro, Mr. Rather."

Dan Rather and Castro discussing the new CBS policy of supporting
Castro's murders of dissidents and proposing it for the DNC as future policy.

Exactly! These people weren't out of work. In fact, they work for the same companies the left likes to beat up on. If you heard the interviews with any of the family members who lost their loved ones, even they said that these guys were doing this job because it was what they loved to do...especially being able to help the Iraqi people. Rather just spit on their graves.

Dan Rather doesn't have a clue as to what the war in Iraq is all about.

To say that Americans are working in Iraq because the American economy is weak is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

FIRST: These men are being paid by American companies operating in the American economy.

SECOND: The American Economy is not weak, and unemployment is lower than the 30 year average.

THIRDLY: Rather still hasn't snapped to the fact that the reason we are fighting terrorists in Iraq is so we don't have to fight them in New York.
