I did not see it, but evidently, Dr. James Dobson said it was full of untruths about Jesus, and Paul, and was aimed at undermining the core of Christianity! They never mentioned the divinity of Christ Jesus, and the "panel" of guests did not include any conservative Christians, but very left and liberal "theologians". I'd be interested in hearing from someone who did view it....thanks!

I was not going to bother watching it because I suspected this would be the view. Once again, no fair and balanced from the alphabet networks.

Of course.
Jesus was a homosexual, but married to mary Magdalene.
Paul was a misogynist.
Christians are intolerant fascists and Christianity has been the greatest force of evil over the last 200 years.

Of course it will attempt to undermind Christianity. What else should we expect in the coming years but a not-too-subtle attempt to discredit the now obviously huge market of people who do want true (i.e. Bible based) depictions of the Christian faith. If Christians dared to be intolerant and voiced what we know - the Peter Jennings specials would be fewer and farther in-between (i.e. the profit margins would dry up and blow away).

Dateline NBC ran an hour-long piece on the final days of Christ Sunday evening at 7p EDT. We opted instead for Candid Camera on PAX, but one would imagine that some FR's saw the show. Would be interested in knowing what Dateline NBC did with their hour.
ABC's scheduling of petah jennings tonight is curious, coming opposite CBS's NCAA Basketball Championship Game and NBC's 2-hour finale of Average Joe - Adam Returns. It's almost a throwaway.

I saw a show Peter Jennings did on Jesus a while back. ABC is really into the whole "historical Jesus" thing. "Historical Jesus" studies were started by liberal theologians. Their premise is that the Gospels are full a myth created by believers after Jesus' death. Their starting point is to throw out everything supernatural and try to figure out who Jesus "really" was. That means there is no virgin birth, divinity, miracles, resurrection...the whole nine yards. "Historical Jesus" analysis has many flaws. The first is that their assumptions predispose their conclusions. Another is that they write off eyewitness testimony as myth. C.S. Lewis has much to say on this subject.

I always found St. Paul a strange character.
How somebody who never knew Christ personally, was never one of His apostles, yet presented himself as the chief spokesman and promoter of Christianity over and above those apostles Christ Himself selected is puzzling.
Personally, I read the Gospels and take what I believe about Christ and Christianty directly from them and try to ignore the writings of this second-hand, or third hand representative who appears to have been a cantancerous, misogynist who disliked women and had no tolerance for any interpretations of scripture other than his own.

You seem to be saying that the only people who can truly Know Jesus are the people met him prior to the resurrection? St Paul came along afterward, and so he cannot know the Truth?
I thought the Truth was available to all.

I always found St. Paul a strange character. How somebody who never knew Christ personally, was never one of His apostles, yet presented himself as the chief spokesman and promoter of Christianity over and above those apostles Christ Himself selected is puzzling. Yet the conversion of Paul -- from a zealous persecutor of Christians to the leading evangelist of Christianity to the Gentiles -- is one of the remarkable testimonies to the life-changing impact of Christ.
Do you discount the Gosple of Luke? Since Luke also wrote Acts and in it gives clear testimony to the validity of Paul's ministry, you shouldn't discount Paul's writing so much if you rely on Luke for your insight into Christianity.

Jennings, ABC, et al, are cashing in on, what they see as the fad that is Christianity. Clearly they view the American public, specifically Christianity, in the same respect as the pet rock.
Ironically, it turns my stomach even more than Swaggerty & Baker.
There is a special, reserved place, in hell for Jennings; right down front, next to the French.
