I didn't read the 6th book yet... I'm so stubborn I wont read it until it comes out in paperback, lol. Am I supposed to know what RKBA stands for?

As a FReeper, you should know that RKBA is shorthand for Right to Keep and Bear Arms. And even if you're a cheapskate I'm sure you should be able to find a used copy of Order of the Phoneix (though I guess I'm not very good at counting, since I called it the sixth book--oh well) at a reasonable price.

Thanks for the update on RKBA. I'm not so sure where to find a Used copy of the book, but now that you mention it I'll keep my eye out.
I'm not sure how to find out if this woman is a conservative or not. I don't trust media reports on authors ever since I read several claiming that Lord of the Rings was meant by Tolkein to be Anti-war. That is the most blatantly false representation I have ever seen of an influential work. The trilogy is clearly meant to say that 1. We must fight evil, and 2. God is on our side. This is all not to mention that Tolkein was a hard-core Christian and Conservative.
Rowling's books have some similar themes, so my vague guess is that she has similar religious and political views.

I know what I am going to do for my birthday! Didn't know it was coming out in June, thought it would be November like the last one.

I read somewhere that the movie was held back so as not to lose money by being released at the same time as LOTR.

We've been chomping at the bit for the new movie. It gives us something to focus on while waiting for a new book :)

The trailer certainly had a "darker" feel to it. All the more appealing to adult readers. I'm interested in how this director will pull it off. So far, it looks promising. I will miss Richard Harrison as "Dumbledore", but the current actor seems good, it not somber.

Bookmarking the link for when my wife wakes up. We both enjoy the series, but feel our children are too young just yet. We have our K-Level son working on reading the pledge of allegiance at this moment, Potter's a bit out of his league but not for long.

We have all of the books on tape/CD. That way the younger ones can listen, and enjoy to a point until they are older.

Well that's the same group of people who find fairytales evil....though the "left" has it's fairytale detractors too. They'll point to the stereotypical role assignment as sexist, classist or racist.
Tales in the fairy realm, always deal with transformation and progression of the human state. The moral and ethical road, is the true course of redemption, the other course always ends in annihilation.
An estoteric interpretation allows that each character is but a facet of the human condition, which must integrate for survival, while slaying the inner dragon. In that sense, everyone is both King, fool,child, dragon etc.

Maybe i"m reading too much into them, but those are the messages I get from it, and why I actually consider them "Conservative" books.

So do I. She demolishes a certain type of socialist-educrat thinking with her Professor Umbrage. Also what got me was that one of the O.W.L.S. exam questions concerned whether "wand legislation" helped or hurt goblin riots. Of couse, it wasn't answered but just asking it implies that there may be another view to the matter than the assumed anti-conservative one.

Another very conservative writer is Dean Koontz. He rips Gray Davis big time in "One Door Away From Heavan"

I got the box set of all five for Christmas after falling in love with the movies. I have read through them twice, and will probably go through them all again before it comes out. It has been a long time for me as well that I have read something so wonderful.

Her last book had an anti-fascist message with Umbridge trying to take over the school. I didn't see anything having to do with socialism. Fudge believed what he wanted despite evidence to the contrary.

Fascist equals National Socialist equals socialist to me. The Ministry (government) was centralizing control of the previously autonomous Hogwarts by placing Umbridge there. That's socialist enough.

Anyway, Umbrdige reminded me of some of my NEA-affilated teachers & principals.

Note the Wesley twins reject government careers for the private sector :-)

Oh, excellent. Harry seems improved - conjuring the Patronus at the end was quite impressive.

I'm very unhappy with what I've seen of Professor Lupin - um, since when does he have a mustache - and Sirius Black also doesn't match my imagination. But I think the new director is going to work out much better.

He was interviewed on Fox last year. He seemed to be a nice young man. I got the books for my grandsons for Christmas, and the tapes for the rest of us. My son-in-law and the boys lie in the gameroom listening to them.

He really adds to the stories. Hearing some of the pronunciations is very helpful. My oldest grandson and I had a discussion about how to say Hermione. I remembered the name from 'Bell, Book, and Candle' - way before his time.

I got my youngest grandson the last one on tape. Since he is only in the 2nd grade, I thought the book might be too much for him. My son has loved the tapes - listens to and from work.
