In 1960, when JFK defeated Nixon, America was a nation of 160 million, 90 percent white and 10 percent black, with a few million Hispanics and Asians sprinkled among us.
We were one nation, one people. We worshipped the same God, spoke the same English language, studied American history and English literature, honored the same heroes, read the same books, watched the same TV shows, went to the same movies and saw ourselves as defenders of Western civilization against the godless communism of the Soviet Empire.
We were confident and proud of who we were. That was yesterday. But due to the Immigration Act of 1965 and the cultural revolution of the '60s, that America is now gone forever. And as one studies the latest projections of the Census Bureau, the America of our grandchildren will be another country altogether, a nation unrecognizable to our parents, a giant Brazil of the North.
In 2050, there will be three times as many people living here as in 1960 -- 420 million. White Americans will be a minority, 49 percent, and falling. Hispanics in the United States, more than 100 million, will be equal to the population of today's Mexico. Our Asian population will be almost as large as our African-American population today.
By countries of origin, America will be a Third World nation. Our cities will look like Los Angeles today. Los Angeles and the cities of Texas, Arizona and California will look like Mexico City.
Writing in Foreign Policy, Harvard Professor Samuel Huntington, author of Who We Are, raises an alarm about the huge infusion of Hispanics into the Southwest, and for many reasons.
Much of this mass immigration is illegal. Vast numbers are coming here only to work. They are not assimilating. They do not want to become Americans. They are concentrating in states bordering Mexico, which is their country and a nation with a historic grievance against us. They are holding on to their language and culture, creating a Hispanic nation within our nation. By 2050, there will be scores of millions of people living here whose loyalty is to a foreign country.
Moreover, as multiculturalism has captured our schools and colleges, immigrant children will have prejudices and grievances against America and the West reinforced as they learn. The academic elite that controls these schools already paints America as a nation with a rancid history of genocide, slavery, racism, oppression and imperialism.
Is the Census Bureau future the future that Americans wish? No. Are they willing to risk it for their grandchildren? No.
Why, then, does that future appear inevitable?
Answer: Though a majority of Americans wish to preserve the land they grew up in for their children, our elites -- political, academic, cultural and corporate -- are either unwilling to conserve that America or indifferent to its disappearance.
Most Americans want immigration cut back and all illegal aliens sent back. Why is the will of the majority, expressed in polls and referenda, not reflected in law or policy? Because we no longer live in a democratic republic; we are ruled by a managerial elite.
America's corporate elites want an endless supply of cheap labor. Our judges throw out popularly enacted laws to which they object. Our academic elites work to see ''white, racist America'' disappear. Our neo-Marxist cultural elites wish to be the gravediggers of the West and of Christian culture. And America's conservative party, the Republican Party, believes that Hispanics hold the key to retention of presidential power and is anxious not to offend Mexican President Vicente Fox.
If, by 2050, the America we grew up in has become a Tower of Babel of squabbling minorities that is falling apart, it will be because of the treason of the elites, and our lack of will to overthrow them.
Immigration is definitely an issue, and illegal immigration even more of an issue. I don't dispute that. I believe it wholeheartedly.
I ask you. Is it possible for me to hold those beliefs while despising race-baiting? I think it is. I don't like it from either liberals or conservatives. We ought to be above that, but apparently believing that makes me a racist according to some. Go figure.
Are you telling me that Saudi Arabians, North Africans and Asian Indians think of themselves as "white"? Or see white Christian Americans as "Caucasian brothers"?
My point, which no one has assailed with any logic thus far, is that groups culturally and/or racially distinct from the majority of "white" European/Americans are flooding into the US/Europe/Australia, and that no reverse outflow is happening, or, indeed, would be accepted by the dominant culture of any non-white nation.
That's my last word on this. We obviously have other things to worry about today.
Man, that is a fancy word. I didn't pick up that one until college. Who would have thunk it could come out of Nashville, much less some backwater in Mississippi.
I have to agree with your post ronnie. Anti-white bigots, MALDEF lawyers, spokesmen for the U. S. Chamber of Commerce and the Democratic National Committee posing as Freepers always fall back on racism instead of factual arguments about legal vs. illegal immigration. I don't classify D.G. as any of those but considering his normal rational tone I'm surprised at how quick he is to make the "racist" charge about illegal immigration and its impact on the USA.
LOL. Get over yourself.
I will accuse Pat of being something of a white separatist in that he thinks America can only retain its culture if it remains predominantly white. While that may or may not be true, and I tend to think it's not, that's what Pat thinks.
However, there are millions of non-whites in this country who most definitely share American cultural values, and it might shock Pat to learn that some of them are conservative. Skin color does not determine cultural or political views.
If Pat wants to argue cultural issues, I'm with him. When he brings race into it, I'm not with him. And he brought race into this article bigtime.
Personally, I don't really care that much what you call each. Judging from the content of your (and other) posts, your comments regarding classifications seem to be correct.
Therefor . . .

Feel better now?
BTW, having grown up with mexicans around, worked with mexicans around and now see entire towns turning into mexican gettos because of the illegals tripping over themselves to soak up my tax money being firehosed at them by the fed.gov in the hopes of a few stinking votes for this side or that, I will continue to use the highly un-pee-cee terms mexican and white.
Oddly enough, no matter how incorrect they may be, everyone seems to know exactly what I am talking about.

Correct on first point: I was born in Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Are you saying you want America to be racially pure?
By countries of origin, America will be a Third World nation. Our cities will look like Los Angeles today. Los Angeles and the cities of Texas, Arizona and California will look like Mexico City."
Buh Buh Miss American Pie - ping.
Theres a lot to chew over in his article apart from any perceived racism. Since Im a product of the 1950s like Pat, I also yearn for the cultural homogeneity (among white, black, Hispanic, Asian, etc. Americans) that resulted from true e pluribus unum in action. It wasnt perfect but it was light years ahead of whats happening now.
I worked hard in the Civil Rights movement to rectify that glaring wrong only to see it hijacked and turned against America by New Left thugs with names like Tom Hayden, Jane Fonda, Jesse Jackson and Bernardie Dohrn who went on to also hijack the Democratic Party. Their only aim has been to radicalize, divide and attempt to destroy us in the name of Karl Marx, not bring us together as a nation. Its anger against that divide and conquer concept I share with Pat: I know where hes coming from.
One of the most profound moments in my life came a few years ago on a dreary afternoon in London when I was able to look upon the original Magna Carta at the British Museum. When discussions like this come up I think about how much were at the tipping-point of losing -- not just in terms of our own founding documents but the bitterly-won path to liberty and republican government paid for in so much blood over so many centuries since that all-important document was penned.
I guess it comes down to an argument over whether a nation should determine its own demographic destiny. While America has always been tolerant of LEGAL immigration and frequently has sought it, I dont see racism in a decision to shut the doors and determine who can come and when. Weve shut those doors before when the public demanded it as its doing now.
If Mexicans and other non-white immigrants want to become Americans legally, I'm all for it. My problem and I think Pat's is the unwillingness of many newcomers to mainstream. He states it clearly:
"They are not assimilating. They do not want to become Americans. They are concentrating in states bordering Mexico, which is their country and a nation with a historic grievance against us. They are holding on to their language and culture, creating a Hispanic nation within our nation. By 2050, there will be scores of millions of people living here whose loyalty is to a foreign country."
Whats going on with the illegals is just that illegal. Its not racist to point it out. Nor is it racist to mention that nearly every other nation on earth sets strict limits and regulations on immigration, starting with our neighbors to the direct north and south. Try walking across the Mexican border without the proper authorization.
