Avowing ``there is no greater threat to homeland security'' than urban combat assault weapons, the Rev. Jesse Jackson is calling on victims of violence to fight for gun safety laws.
``There is no socially useful purpose for AK-47s or Uzis,'' the charismatic civil rights champion said yesterday, speaking at a Grove Hall rally for next month's Million Mom March in Washington, D.C.
This year's fourth annual procession, to step off Mother's Day, May 9, will serve as a wakeup call to Congress and President Bush [related, bio]. A federal law passed in 1994 banning the sale of assault weapons is due to lapse in September.
Hand-cannons like the bullet-spraying Intratec 9 mm Luger may seem like nothing more than Hollywood props to the public, but ``this type of weapon is a very real threat,'' Boston police Superintendent James Claiborne said.
Police were more than surprised when they found just such a high-powered pistol - along with a 9 mm handgun - in a prostitute's purse stolen from Dudley Station last week.
Barbara Felton of Orleans, who'll lend her voice of experience to next month's march, admits she was ``ambivalent'' toward guns until her 27-year-old son Mark, an elementary school teaching assistant, committed suicide with a pal's shotgun four years ago. ``I guess I was naive,'' Felton said. ``I know that Mark will never come back. I just hope and pray that I will somehow be influential in saving lives.''

About 125 years ago, states and muncipalities tried to prevent blacks from owning firearms. Kinda like a personel protection insurance policy for the Klan. But the NRA fought for those rights, and blacks armed themselves.
Jesse jackson is a racist even to his own people.

Good point about the choice of "gun safety" terminology.
If gun control is too much of a loser for even Jackson, we're winning.

The theory being that if you control the words, you control the minds. The strategy is not fool proof. It's encouraging that the enemy is changing it's labeling more and more frequently. (eg. liberal no/progressive yes.)

Probably it isn't working anymore because more and more Americans are aware of the trick.

Where is the Million Ho March? Are we going to let Ho's have their glots and Uzis stole and not protest? Who is going to speak for the Ho in America?

Here, let me correct jesse jack@$$' comment.
There is no greater threat to homeland security than urban combat assault weapons, the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Avowing "there is no greater threat to homeland security" than urban combat assault weapons, the Rev. Jesse Jackson is calling on victims of violence to fight for gun safety laws. Now it's "urban combat assault weapons" are a threat to homeland security. When these morons can't get their way, they simply pile on more adjectives.
I recall the Reverend Jackson slobbering on Saddam's shoes and hobknobbing with Fidel Castro, both sworn enemies of America. Now that an Islamofascist enemy more vile than Tojo and Hitler combined is at our door, the Reverend Jackson wants me to give up my Homeland Defense Rifle. No thanks, Reverend Jackson. Now go smoke some more crack and leave me alone.

Why is Jessie talking about others going "bang"?
Is Jackson an expert on stray live rounds?
How about children and "accidents" Jessie?

What's the difference between a "bullet-spraying 9 mm Luger Intratec hand-cannon" and a "9 mm handgun?"
Anyone? Help me out here.

Not only that, but if Jackson is the new spokesperson for "gun safety", after Rosie, then there is yet more to celebrate.

I've never fired a TEC-9 but for all its hype, I've heard it was actually a low quality gun that just has large magazines.
Personally, I'd rather have an MP-5........
