Jackson rallies marchers, calls for gun safety laws

Avowing ``there is no greater threat to homeland security'' than urban combat assault weapons, the Rev. Jesse Jackson is calling on victims of violence to fight for gun safety laws.

``There is no socially useful purpose for AK-47s or Uzis,'' the charismatic civil rights champion said yesterday, speaking at a Grove Hall rally for next month's Million Mom March in Washington, D.C.

This year's fourth annual procession, to step off Mother's Day, May 9, will serve as a wakeup call to Congress and President Bush [related, bio]. A federal law passed in 1994 banning the sale of assault weapons is due to lapse in September.

Hand-cannons like the bullet-spraying Intratec 9 mm Luger may seem like nothing more than Hollywood props to the public, but ``this type of weapon is a very real threat,'' Boston police Superintendent James Claiborne said.

Police were more than surprised when they found just such a high-powered pistol - along with a 9 mm handgun - in a prostitute's purse stolen from Dudley Station last week.

Barbara Felton of Orleans, who'll lend her voice of experience to next month's march, admits she was ``ambivalent'' toward guns until her 27-year-old son Mark, an elementary school teaching assistant, committed suicide with a pal's shotgun four years ago. ``I guess I was naive,'' Felton said. ``I know that Mark will never come back. I just hope and pray that I will somehow be influential in saving lives.''

I guess Mrs Felton would call for banning ropes if her son hung himself?

That excuse of using a gun to committ suicide is so TIRED. Ask ANYONE who has been there and they will tell you that they will use anything if they really want to go that bad.

BTW, why is it that prostitutes don't have the right to defend themselves?

Who cares what Jesse Jackson does or does not do or say? Jesse blooms only in the bright sunshine of publicity. The darkness of inattention would certainly cause him to wither away in the obscurity that he deserves.

Mac-10s and Teks can be bought for a pittance on the streets illegally. Jesse Jackson skirts the issues of personal responsibility.

Where's the 'barf alert' for this lie-studded screed? Seems like brother Jesse's comin' back by hammering on the minor issues to the faithful RAT's. Foisting the usual litany of half-truths and outright lies, this time-tested sermon will always set the leftist nutbags to vibrating. You'll have to excuse me, I need to go vomit into the backyard compost pile...

This guy is so full of it. He would be just as happy if he knew that only his homies were armed. Jesse likes to hear himself talk.

I got attacked once where I work. One of my customers had a mac 10 and used to sit by the door to make me feel safer :-) too bad he got caught by the police :O Believe it or not, they were more outraged that he was carrying illegally and not his *ahem* questionable immigration status.

BTW, you're right. Tek 9 is ugly!

I guess the phrase "Gun Control" now is politically untenable so it's time to mast their anti-second amendment goals behind a new phrase - "Gun Safety"

Slippery creature the enemy of freedom is.

I did buy a Tec-22 for some silly reason. I liked the 30 round banana clip and the rounds are cheaper than 9 MM.

His critical thinking skills are sadly undeveloped. If he had an ounce of self-respect, he would withdraw from the public view. Alas, there is little hope of that!

Avowing ``there is no greater threat to homeland security'' than urban combat assault weapons,

the Rev. Jesse Jackson is citing nefarious extra-marital affairs to fight for mandatory birth control. ``There is no socially useful purpose for bastid babies of celebrity men,'' the charismatic civil rights champion said yesterday, speaking at a Grove Hall rally for next month's Million Mom March in Washington, D.C. This year's fourth annual procession, to step off Mother's Day, May 9, will serve as a wakeup call to Congress and President Bush [related, bio]. Hand-cannons like the bullet-spraying

I just hope and pray that I will somehow be able to accept my new grandbaby.''

Its the guns, its not character, right Jesse? Cause you're living proof of what its like to preach wholesomeness and not to practice it, eh Reverend?
