Apr 3, 6:41 AM (ET) MADRID, Spain (AP) - Interior Minister Angel Acebes confirmed Saturday that the bomb found at a high-speed rail line a day earlier was made of the same type of explosives used in the Madrid terror bombings.
"The explosives are the same as those used on March 11, but at this moment the investigation is continuing ... to try to determine who is behind it," Acebes told reporters in Madrid.
Train service was restored Saturday after being interrupted a day earlier by the discovery of a 26-pound bomb hidden in a bag, the state rail company said.
Investigators have said the March 11 bombings were carried out with Spanish dynamite - Goma 2 Eco. The attack killed 191 people and injured 1,800.

Sometimes when you demonstrate cowardice in the face of the enemy by running away, you still wind up getting shot in the back. If, as the press accounts indicate, the explosives were of Spanish origin, then it takes us back to the original ETA-link hypothesis. I doubt that "Mahmoud" and "Abdul" walked into their friendly neighborhood explosives emporium and ordered up a mess of (highly regulated) explosives without some help from the inside.

Now that Spain has sent the loud & clear message that ''Terrorism Works'' in Spain, they've created an equal opportunity situation.

One of the first things an enemy will do to a nation is test the will and resolve of the government in power.
Al Queda and the Taliban got GW's answer in short order.
Socialist Spain has already indicated their willingness to surrender. This will get far worse for the Spainiards before it gets better.
Appeasement is a death sentence. It just takes a lot longer and it's much lonelier.
Prayers for our conservative friends in Spain who are reeling from the atrocious cowardice of their leftist liberals.

Well, I guess it's time for new leadership. This party's policies failed Spain. Bombs are now being put in place for another attack. Perhaps Spain should promise to disarm their military. I'm sure that would work. Sniker.

Can't say I'm particularly sympathetic with their plight.
I'm saving my sympathy for our allies.
Serves you right you cowardly custards!!

Old Europe has chosen its new flag design:
Surrender white, with a yellow streak left of center.

Has this been identified as "new", or was it possibly sitting around from the last attack?
Was it soaked from rain, etc? Has it been raining there?
I would expect them to sell this idea.
But they will have to answer why it was not found earlier...

The very short sighted view the present as only taking a stand pro or con vis a vis the Iraq War and make decisions based only on that narrow criterium. Spain has fallen into this trap.
Those who are wise and discerning view Iraq as only a small part of the global struggle pitting the forces of good against the forces of evil, with the ultimate outcome determining whether or not civilization as we know it will survive.
Spain has made a decision which is pro-evil and anti-good, whether or not they recognize that fact yet.

Now that it is apparent that Pulling troops out of Iraq is not the solution,
Im sure that the hand wringing liberal crowd will find a 1000 more non violent solutions to terrorism.

Spain will now have to withdraw from Spain. I think they need to meet the terrorist reasonable demands, convert to Islam, including the Basques, institute Shari`ah, and close US bases.
