SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! ...and God Bless Mr. and Mrs. Barnes
Friday, April 02, 2004 | Me, Myself and I

Hi everybody. I left school early today cause my brain broke. So I came home and opened all the windows (It was a nice day out) and just started drawing, passing the time. I started to notice that outside there was a lot of honking going on. It went on and on and on and every 30 seconds or so a different car passing by the street was honking it's horn. I grabbed my camera and went across the street. There were two people in front of the local VFW with an american flag and a Support our Troops sign! I talked to 'em and they said they were Mr. and Mrs. Barnes, and they would come otu from time to time to support the troops! The sound of the honking cars and smiles and waves was music to my ears. I live just a couple of blocks (Literally) from major corps like Nintendo of America, Microsoft, etc... If ya haven't guessed by now I live on the Bellevue, Redmond border in Washington State! Anyways, I asked them if they heard of the FreeRepublic before and they said no. So I told them to show up and join the forums and I took their pics... here they are!

God Bless Mr. and Mrs. Barnes! And God Bless Our Troops! :)

WOW! I'm so happy to see good Americans doing this on their own volition. They would make excellent Freepers!

Dang! I wished I'd seen it earlier!

I live and work right near there. I have an apartment only a couple miles from there... at 140th and Bel-Red.

We need to get some Bellevue Freepers together...

As it would happen... I'm at the Embassy Suites in Bellevue, where the bar has a wireless hotspot. Freeping and drinking beer in a bar is a very good thing. :-)

Perhaps there's a habit to be made of this?

Hey everyone, got this post from a friend of mine back in Bellevue. I'm currently in Baghdad, a cavalry scout in the US Army living the news you watch, and mostly the news you never see. I just wanted to express my sincere thanks for support from people like you. It's still a war, it's still very, very real over here, and lots of people, lots of free Iraqi people are dying. But far greater than that, more and more Iraqis have food, and clothes and shoes. Behind all the politics and bickering what's really happening is a lot of lives are being made better. Whereas before a family of 4 would live in a mud hut no bigger than half a porter potty, not allowing their daughters to walk outside because Saddam and his sons were fond of stealing them, raping them and leaving them dead or worse on the side of the road, children now play freely in the streets and come to wave at the American convoys as we toss out MRE's and candy. Things are much better here and it's because of support from back home. Those of you who back us, those families who keep their soldiers strong, the civilian contractors that rebuild the country, it's all doing a lot of good that CNN would never dare report to you. So thanks from the front, we love you guys, and we're not backing down until every one of those kids has a pair of shoes to wear.
