Fallujah Delenda Est
It is very easy and justifiable for every American to take the barbaric horror that occurred in Fallujah on March 30 personally. It is even easier for me in particular because the private contractor who provided the convoy guards murdered and butchered by the Fallujahites is a personal friend.
Yet this is a crime that requires far more punishment than simple revenge. Let me state it clearly: The people who committed this crime are subhuman. They have relinquished their claim to be considered members of the human race.

Okay .. I read ya! I'm expecting you to be pleasantly surprised.
This is an old military trick though .. tell them you're coming and then let them sit there .. tensely waiting. At an appointed time - when the bad guys have slackened off because they're convinced we're not coming .. that's when you hit them. It will catch them off guard and we will sustain less casualties.

From the Washington times:
The atrocities in Fallujah are raising a wide range of passions in the hearts of Americans from the instinct to retreat, to the urge for us to apply crushing, military collective retribution against the locals. All such passions are understandable; none of them are useful. Our objective in Iraq, including Fallujah, is to bring order out of the chaos.
Go read this, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1109868/posts, and perhaps you will acquire a clue, since you both seem to be without one presently.

Falluago delenda est. I pity them if they had been around the Romans. None of them would have survived. Who remembers the Carthaginians?

Here is the deal.
The Iraqi Sunnis are on the bubble, trying to figure out if there is a future for them in American-controlled Iraq, as anything other than slaves.
They know that they treated the rest of the country shabbily, and expect that same treatment. *If* that happens, they figure that they might as well go down fighting and take as many of their enemies with them, to increase their bodyguards in Hell. If you are going to die, you might as well die fighting.
On the other hand, *if* the United States convinces them that they will be treated justly, and that they and their children do have a future, why die? Turn over the dead-enders and be done with it. Join Greater Iraq.
The animals that ambushed that convoy in Fallujah were trying to accomplish one of three things:
1. Lure American soldiers into an ambush trying to rescue the bodies. We did not fall for that.
2. Drive the Americans into flattening Fallujah, creating a massacre that will convince the rest of the Sunnis that they are all going to die, thereby triggering massive resistance to the American occupation. Well, so far, we have not done that either.
3. If the Americans do not immediately counterattack or flatten Fallujah, declare Fallujah "Free Iraq," and convince the world that we are too scared to fight. Well, I don't think we will let that happen, either.
What we are going to do is go into Fallujah, and go through it block by block. The Marines will use the roads to partition the city, and set up teams to intradict movement. Snipers will be positioned to smash resistance.
Once the city is isolated and partitioned, teams will go through each block, and arrest anyone associated with the attack. Those foolish enough to have been captured on video will be taken away and interrogated. Before long, the vast majority of the goats will have been separated from the sheep, for a trip to the gallows or Gitmo. That will be a few thousand, max. The rest of the city will be left alone.
They will then get a chance to think over what happened. They will be less likely to act again -- and if they do, why we will haul off the perps again.
And the rest of the Sunnis will have received a powerful message.

insulting fellow americans who KNOW that obliterative force is the only thing that will work to stem the bloody tide of islamaniacs (pipes says 10% of the 1.2 billion muslims)... won't prevent the results of a limited warfare mentality.
whatever.
you and your ilk of fellow "believers in the myth of moderate islam"... will be bowing to mecca soon enough... in fact, the timerity I see on the threads by alleged conservatives tells me it's all over but the prayer rug purchases.
Islam is not peace. It's murder.

baloney.
they just want to kill jews, christians and destroy the west.
and there are about 110 million of the "kill the west" islamaniacs roaming the planet... roughly 10 percent of the 1.2 billion of them.
this IS a religious war, on THEIR part. . . not ours.
In the end, for us, this will come down to our will to kill in mass quantities, just to survive.

insulting fellow americans who KNOW that obliterative force.... Two things here:
1) You deserve insulting, and
2) You don't KNOW sh*t.
you and your ilk of fellow "believers in the myth of moderate islam"...
I don't believe I mentioned anything about 'moderate islam'. It is a belief you have assigned to me 'and my ilk' just so you'd have a reason to write that stupid paragraph. Along with not having a tactical clue, you don't have a clue as to what I believe about islam and those particular hadjis in Iraq who tried to kill my son last December.
I believe in the disciplined use of deadly force not in the mindless use of obliterative force. Fallujah will pay on our schedule because we have the disciplined professionals running the war and not armchair Rambos who don't think but emote.
the timerity I see on the threads by alleged conservatives tells me it's all over but the prayer rug purchases
For an alleged conservative and proponent of obliterative force, youre pretty much a defeatist and you can quit waving the French (white)flag anytime now.

When we move, just like in Iraq - it will be overwhelming.
this IS iraq... and apparently in the sunni triangle it has not been "overwhelming" enough to terminate the resistance, or gain unconditional terms of surrender from them.
not that I disagree with your hopes.
I too hope this IS a trick play that catches them off guard.
but I doubt it.
the "limited response" team here at free republic assures me that shock and awe solutions would cause the world to think badly of us, so we must be very cautous.
of course, the world already thinks very badly of us.
I wish I had your confidence.

you seem to believe in the failed concepts of limited war against religious terrorist hordes numbering in the 10's of millions. You have any proof that it has failed? Besides, it's not a 'limited war', it's a different war. Would you be so barbarous as to kill 100 million just to eliminate the 10 million bad ones?

Daniel pipes could be wrong.
he said only about 10 percent of the 1.2 billion world's muslims are radicals.
that would be about 120,000,000. some say he was low.
would I support the killing of these 120 million if it were necessary to save my family, my nation if it came down to it?
would I support the nuking of 100 million soviets, including their citizens, during the cold war as a deterrent?
or would I recommend levelling hiroshima, nagasaki, dresden, berlin, tokyo.. to save american lives?
would I expect our leadership to commit genocide to prevent genocide of me and mine? gee I dunno.

So you are advocating imitating the tactics of the Islamofascist crazies who want to kill all the Infidels. After all, look what that approach has bought them since September 11, 2001 -- loss of their bases in Afghanistan and Iraq, getting hounded out of Islamic nations like Pakistan and Uzbekistan, and being reduced to making attacks on small groups of civilians. Sounds like a plan to me -- not a winning plan -- but a plan every bit as good as Osama bin Ladin's.
Well, there are some Freepers -- not many, but some -- that could swim all day in a sea of knowledge without getting their clothes wet. The rest of us might benefit from reading the Belmont Club's take on what is coming down, presented in Command Decision
They even provide a link to a satellite map of Fallujah via Global Security.org
Those that want to imitate our enemies can skip reading these links. It will probably make their heads hurt. Thinking does that to those unaccustomed to exercising their brains.

From all accounts Fallujah has enjoyed a reputation as a lawless town most Iraqis feared to enter. If we simply arrest the human jackals who carried out last week's atrocities, we leave a city ready, willing, and able to mount more of the same at any point. Something more must be done about Fallujah. It has to be pacified. When that happens, the rest of Iraq and Muslim terrorists everywhere will take note.

I think you missed the Administration's comments. The response will be measured, and decisive. Don't rush to a conclusion that this is the same Commander-In -Chief.
To: tbpiper
Obviously, we're between a rock and a hard place. Fallujah and other Iraqi's, plus the rest of the terrorist network of that ilk are counting on what they perceive as America's weakness: a distaste for needless enemy deaths and casualties. They don't value human lives, and they'll blame us for anything we do. If we simply arrest these killers and turn them over to Iraqi courts, down the line they may be released to kill again at the behest of some maniac cleric. An example must be made and soon. Iraqi police are afraid of entering Fallujah, which certainly says something about the residents. The men who were killed were helping to deliver food, for heaven's sake. We're dealing with medieval-minded, murderous crackpots. You can't reason with them, and turning the other cheek is insanity. They understand force and fear. We have to threaten them until they fear us like no other, until they send all the rats out for us to capture...and I don't mean just the ones involved in last week's incident. There are others ready, willing, and able to do it again. We have to get them, too. Then we turn the town around.
