I too must confess that I enjoyed watching Bob Ross paint. Like most, apparently, I don't actually paint, I just like watching the show.

I had a dentist who had a voice just like Bobs, he'd talk to me while working on my teeth and I'd just melt into the chair.Relax Mr. tailback, that's not blood you taste, it's just a happy little accident!

Hey, I'm with you on that lady with the flowers. The wife had her show on a couple weeks ago, and I could only take about five minutes. Always the same flower, and always correcting your mistakes: "No! Don't do it that way!"

Bob Ross is TelleTubbies for adults.
That soothing voice and pleasant pictures have a calming affect.
And there IS a plot.
The plot is in his painting. Following his brush strokes and trying to figure out if that last stroke is in the foreground or background, the start of a tree or side of a mountain.
I'm not sure I would buy his paintings, but he certainly was talented.

I loved watching Bob Ross. Anybody remember the name of the old German guy who was doing the show before Bob showed up? Glorious sunshine!

One of the greatest Far Side cartoons shows Bob Ross on TV telling his audience to "always make your trees look like happy trees." Meanwhile, the guy who was watching at home got crushed by an elm that crashed through his living room. There was also a pretty funny MadTV parody of the show last year.

His show always amazes me -- as does any true talent....
