NOBODY imagined that airliners would be flown into buildings. It hadn't ever happened like that before. Real Americans understand this and can see all the actions Bush has taken since 9/11 to protect us. It was unreasonable to imagine an airliner being used as a weapon.

Off thread subject - last night's Chris Matthews' interview w/Dick Clarke - they discussed Cheney's influence in the White House
"Major revelation" from Clarke - Cheney attends meetings that VPs never attend!
Chris wondered aloud if Cheney is overstepping his Constitutional role!
Someone please send a copy of the Constitution to Chris - and a reminder that Clinton never tired of telling us about the very active role that Gore was playing in his administration.
The "Washington Insider" Chris Matthews doesn't understand that the Constitution doesn't dictate the specifics of West Wing organization and decision-making. Bush can seek daily advice from Bozo the Clown if he likes - and he isn't constitutionally obligated to tell us.

you know ... right now we have been given warning that terrorists, at some point are going to attack sites in the US with airplanes.
the warning was 9/11.
now what do Hanoi John French Kerry & the liberals want to do?
scrap the patriot act, scroll away intelligence & start treating potential terrorists with the white glove of political correctness?
stop the war on terror?
apologize?

Well the FOX channel surely imagined an attack using a fully fueled 727 on the WTC. The link below is from a FOX pilot called The Lone Gunman that aired in May 2001 and was shot 19 months before 911.
The links at the bottom of this page have streaming video of the WTC attack scene from The Lone Gunman's "PILOT" episode.

Even if there were threats of this, they could not know when or exactly how this would happen. Now we do know, and that is the important thing. NOW we can know just exactly what they are capable of don't we? This is an outright assault on the President playing off the blood of our lost one's on 911. They have no shame, right Hillary?

And part of the 'very active VP' Gore was to head up Airline Security.

I wouldn't bother sending anything to Chris Matthews. He knows all and cares little about what anyone else thinks or says. Its all about Chris.

I gave up Matthews a long time ago. Its just too one sided for me when hacks like Katrina VanDen Hateful are shown as moderates instead of the angry leftists that they really are.

What do you do? Close down airports for the foreseeable future? Expel all Muslims from the country? What, exactly? That's the tack that should taken.
The polls seem to indicate that the American people understand this.

Isn't this whole "should have known" thing going too far? Shouldn't every wife whose husband was always a little too friendly with her girlfriends before they married and often had blocks of time he was evasive about HAVE KNOWN he was a cheater and thus should be responsible for every act of infidelity he does?
If you think your neighbor might be building a bomb but you are really not sure, and he does build one and detonate it, according to the commission the deaths are your fault.
I mean, if Bush really knew there was an airplane plot and had made a speech warning America in general, most of the people would have laughed at him and flown anyway, and there would now be a Congressional Inquisition on why he should have known WHICH FLIGHTS were targeted. And that MOHAMMED ATTA was the guy in charge.
Why doesn't this apply to Kerry? He was at a meeting where everyone voted "yea" or "nay" on whether to assassinate senators, and did not warn anyone. And HE VOTED! Yet Bush had to extrapolate from myriad intelligence reports that 9/11 would happen before it did.

Well I can't speak to any papers about it, but I remember hearing a news report some years back about the
threat that was being made to fly planes into buildings.
It's remarkable that I remember it really, because I wasn't a news junkie in those days. But I recall the shudder that ran through me at the level of hatred the threat conveyed.
So, there's no surprise that the US knew of at least a threat that had been made. FWIW.

Everything you said may be true but Bush happen to make the ridiculous statement that no one could have imagined anyone flying planes into buildings.

Condi is the target. She put herself on the hook when she said no one could have known or imagined (whatever her exact words were) a plane used as a missile. Libs have been trying to prove ever since that that was a lie. I don't know. Was it a lie? Or even just erroneous? Could be. Anyway, that's the target here. Just like the CIA leak target was Rove.

we should not be all that shocked to discover that someone like Rice did indeed have a "threat of airliner attack" raw report Let's be clear about it. Are you saying you won't be surprised to learn that Condi lied to the American people about what they knew?
