In my readings about "Dear Leader", I found that he was terrifed of flying and always travelled by train or car. He was also terrified of assassination attempts, and frequently sent out decoy trains and cars.

IF he survived this, I have no doubt he will try to affix blame to the "Great Satan" and take us on. A really scarey thought.

On another thread on this subject, I read that some were dead on the Chinese border, about 20 miles away. Makes me wonder about a nuke possibility.....I know, I know....tinfoil time. NK is such a closed society, we may never know the truth. It will be interesting to see what the satellite photos show tomorrow.

Hopefully, it was JUST an accident.

Actually this article is from 2 years ago. I just posted it as another disturbing FYI. I would hope the alphabets know about it by now. If they don't, we're in more trouble than I thought :-).

I'll keep a closer eye on the news in The Tico Times for more current events. My cousin owns the newspaper now and it has more "tourist/travel" news than it used to. When my uncle was alive and running the newspaper it was an excellent source of "hard" news from Central/S.America. He kept me up to date with a subscription. Even though it would arrive in my mail a week after publication (coming from Costa Rica) during the Iran/Contra years I would get news on that whole affair that would never make the America press; or it would be in the T.T. weeks before it would hit the American newspapers.

Those AK 47s were headed to Vermont

As long as they were headed to dealers for resale, I don't have a problem with it. Most such imports are stripped for parts and rebuilt on U.S. manufactured receivers. That ensures a good serial number and conformance with U.S. law. It also pretty much eliminates making anything other than a standard semi-auto rifle. The lefty media is doing everything possible to push a renewal of the "assault weapons" ban.

I couldn't believe the hyperventilation over having bayonets affixed. Has there been a rash of drive by bayonetings lately? Has anyone used a bayonet affixed to a rifle to commit a crime? I haven't heard of any cases.

Most of the M1 Garand rifles on the used market are cobbled up from a U.S. manufactured CAI receiver and a mix of barrels, stocks and other parts gathered from surplus sites around Europe. Many barrels are "shot out" i.e. they have been shot to the point of wiping out the rifling. Companies like Brownells and MidwayUSA market replacement barrels and stocks to refurbish these "junk box" rebuilds. The U.S. government still has a stock of new in the box M1's for the DCM program.

Re # 4383 (40 nukes)

40 nukes going off at the same time is about the scariest scenario I can think of. The other would be a bio attack.

I really hate to admit it, but IMHO 40 nukes would bring this country to it's knees, even if only temporarily.

Same at Ogilivie Transportation Center in Chicago. Bomb-sniffing dogs have been deployed for about a week. First time I've ever seen security that high there. All trains are now making announcement about heightened threat alert and asking passengers to be wary of unattended packages...

HMMMMMMM

Sure thing. I was sitting right next to the window and when the train pulled into the next station after I got on. I looked out and there was a cop and his sniffer dog walking the platform. Seems like they're really concerned about the trains. When you think about it, if a suicide bomber wanted to detonate in Penn Station he would probably get on at one of these stops and ride it into Penn. I'm glad to see the security tightened as these smaller stations.

We've been getting those announcements for the past two weeks as well.

>>Islamophobic rhetoric

At some point, Hoopster, if crap happens, the rhetoric will be action, and many innocents, many non muslims will be caught in the heat.

And their blood will be on your hands.

That's what so good about this place. This stuff is just off the TV screens. Even when dozens get slaughtered in a place like Algeria or elsewhere, it barely merits a mention.

Imagine what the opinion of America might be if every day, a comprehensive list of jihadi atrocities was published, collated and gathered for a long term perspective.

AS it is, most people don't wanna hear or know about it, witness the reactions of incredulity and disbelief and turning away if you bring up topics we devour on this thread.

Hey Everybody, I found another site with information on how to be prepared and what to do if your caught in an explosion or trapped in rubble. Seems pretty informative and worth a look-see.

Here's the link:

New Voice of Jihad, issue 15, has been issued through the new Global Islamic Media home. It looks interesting - will read when I get home from work. Over 40 pages - so it will take a while.

S. African killed in Baghdad supermarket
Thu 22 April, 2004 16:46

By Alistair Lyon

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A gunman has shot dead a South African security guard in a Baghdad supermarket after accusing him of being Jewish in the latest example of the widespread dangers facing foreigners in Iraq.

Kidnappers freed two Swiss nationals and a Palestinian, but several other foreign hostages remained missing. About 50 foreigners have been abducted this month. Most have been freed. In other incidents at least 26 foreign civilians and private security guards have been killed in March and April.

The South African, earlier identified by police as a Spaniard, was shot in the head on Thursday by a lone assailant who also wounded his Iraqi translator in a shop in Baghdad's Sunni Muslim Adhamiya district, witnesses said.
