US Promises to Punish Those Responsible for Gruesome Iraq Attacks

The top U.S. official in Iraq says Wednesday's gruesome attacks on four American civilians whose burned bodies were put on display in the town of Fallujah will not go unpunished.

"It's going to be deliberate, it will be precise and it will be overwhelming," U.S. General Mark Kimmitt said, speaking to reporters in Baghdad. He warned insurgents in the town of Fallujah to be prepared for U.S. forces to strike back following Wednesday's killing of four American contractors by a frenzied mob that dragged their charred bodies through the streets.

Televised footage of the act has provoked outrage from Americans in the United States and led U.S. administrator in Baghdad Paul Bremer to issue a warning.

"Their deaths will not go unpunished," he promised.

The White House blamed the attacks on supporters of Saddam Hussein. The remains of the four were to be turned over to the U.S. military.

A day after the attack, three American soldiers were injured in another attack near Fallujah, this time when their Humvee struck a roadside bomb.

I was searching for Central/South American related news. I came across this article that is quite chilling (lots of missing passports, terrorists connections, etc.). It's from a Costa Rican newspaper, The Tico Times. The article is dated April 2002 but still worth reading.

I read the Debka article too, but what bothered me is they indicated that Basra and Riyad bombings were stage 1 of a 4 stage attack, that stage 3 and 4 had been foiled in Jordan.

What about stage 2?

The following is an assessment of the targets:

NYC and other major metro areas shopping districts under assault by suicide bombers (females). Followed immediately by assaults using false emergency vehicles and personnel holding false ID. This is to target the real US "first responders."

In rapid succession the White house, NSA and Centcom Command in Fla are hit. Bio and or Chem attacks on major population centers. Radiological attacks on key ports on both coasts.

This assualt is to cutt -ff all US forces in the Middleeast from rapid reinforcement/re-supply excepting only airlift capabilities.

Our forces in iraq are subjected to a much larger Mogodishu type operation by assembled jihadi's exported from Syria and Iran and Saudi.

US forward operating bases in Djibouti are a target. Message traffic indicates that up to 60,000 jihadis may have infiltrated the country under cover of the annual Hadj to Mecca. They will attempt to overwhelm US posts by sheer numbers.

Below are two relevant "jakel" jihadist web posted images from 2003 which had no meaning associated until recently.

Osama is alive here, but he is about to martyr himself. All jihadi forums saying the "hit" on the US to occur prior to the end of the Greater Bairam.

Osama appears as an apparition looking down from heaven upon what he has wrought. Appears this attack is after the one above, as the sequence in numbering. Osama is dead and martyred in this image.

Additionally there are persistent jihad warnings of a nuke attack in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Washington, DC, among others.

I assume the US and allies are prepared for this worst case vignette.

Having just returned from the "Tres-Frontiere", I know this to be true. The natives of that area are appalled and terrified by the influx of Muslims to their homeland. Most of the new immigrants are settled in Paraguay, but make frequent forays into Brazil and Argentina creating all kinds of problems for the locals there. About six or eight weeks ago, the Brazilian authorities arrested 45 A.Q. members. I was told this by one of our business agents there, but I cannot verify it. I have no reason to doubt her story, however. They are a huge problem, and growing daily.

Inferno rages at oil refinery in Ibaraki Pref.



Yomiuri Shimbun

A fire broke in a fuel-oil desulfurizer at a refinery operated by Kashima Oil Co. in Kamisumachi, Ibaraki Prefecture, at about 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters battled the fire with about 20 fire trucks throughout the morning but the fire was still burning as of 9 p.m.

No injuries were reported.

The refinery, which process 190,000 barrels of oil per day, is located among a number of chemical pants in the Kashima industrial area. However, the police and local fire department said there was no danger of the fire spreading to other facilities, or the refinery's own oil storage tanks.

The company stopped all operations at refinery soon after the fire broke out.

The refinery is computer-controlled and there were no employees working near the plant when the fire broke out. The blaze was reported to the fire department by a worker who heard an explosion.

The police believe the explosion occurred near a heating device in the desulfurizer.

A fire that broke out in the same kind of equipment at the refinery in March 1982 killed five people and injured three.

The refinery supplies fuel oil for thermal power plants operated by Tokyo Electric Power Co. and oil products to local customers

Fire chief warns of 'arson intifada'

Israel is facing a new wave of "arson terrorism" by Palestinians, Fire and Rescue Services Commissioner Shimon Romach said, after multiple, deliberately set fires destroyed dozens of dunams of land this week.

Several fires were set in the Ben-Shemen Forest in the Modi'in region and in the Nataf Forest near Jerusalem. According to Romach, the fires, which he said were started by Palestinian arsonists, caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages.

"There is a clear connection between last night's fires and arson in the past, which indicates that we are in the midst of the return of the 'arson intifada' of 1988," Romach said. "The Palestinians are frustrated due to the construction of the West Bank security fence and they have therefore resorted to arson, which is an easy form of terrorism."

"The arson is not new to us," he said. "This is a continuation of the fires from the first intifada and unfortunately it is a phenomenon that repeats itself."

Four fires broke out in the Ben-Shemen Forest on Sunday afternoon, following clashes between Palestinians and security forces over the security fence near the village of Rantis. The Jewish National Fund said that 200 dunams (50 acres) were consumed in the fire.

"All you need to start a fire is one match," Romach said. "You take the match and a can of fuel and light it in the forest. It's an action that doesn't require planning, since an arsonist usually will not get caught."

JNF officials said that, between 2000 and 2003, some 37,000 dunams (9,250 acres) of woodland were destroyed in about 1,000 forest fires – a third of which were caused by arson.

I certainly hope that they don't leave the coalition. My mother is Polish and darned proud of it. She is 85 years old. She quit school when she was 16 to get a job to pay for her mother's funeral and to raise her brother and two sisters. That's a big plate for a 16 year old and she did it with no expectation of anything from anyone. There's something to be said for her courage in a time of sorrow.
