FBI files documenting Sen. John Kerry's anti-war activities that were reported stolen over the weekend could have damaged the likely Democratic nominee's presidential bid, the San Francisco author who obtained the records said Monday.
Asked about the missing files, Vietnam War historian Gerald Nicosia told CNN: "This stuff is very explosive. It's an enormous amount of information."
"The police say it was a neat and professional burglary," he explained, noting that 3,000 to 4,000 pages were missing out of a total of 20,000 pages. Burglars ignored other valuables in the house, raising questions about whether the break-in had anything to do with political damage control on behalf of the Kerry campaign.
A Kerry spokesman had no comment on the apparent theft when asked by the New York Sun over the weekend. But Nicosia said he suspects political foul play, telling the Los Angeles Times for Tuesday's edition that he is a product of the Watergate era who understands the allure of political sabotage.
While researching his book "Home to War," Nicosia obtained Kerry's FBI files in 1999. The records have already proven problematic for the Kerry campaign, forcing the candidate to reverse earlier denials that he attended a November 1971 meeting of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War where a plot to assassinate pro-war U.S. senators was discussed.
Nicosia told the Sun that the intruders likely wanted more than the three file boxes that were removed, since other boxes appear to have been rifled. He speculated that the file thieves were interrupted, perhaps scared off by a neighbor's barking dog.
Since the break-in he has trouble sleeping, he told the Times, adding, "My kids were really spooked by the burglary."

What was the name of that clinton goon again, the one who was always truning up around women from sinkWilly's past when hatellary needed to silence them? Started with a 'P', didn't it?

When I requested information on some drug studies submitted to the FDA I received the information via the Freedom of Information Act. If I remember correctly, they had the information to me in about 2 to 3 weeks. Can someone inform me of what is obtainable under the Freedom of Information Act in relationship to FBI Files. I thought they could only be released if the individual of interest okay's the release. Something is very wrong with this whole story.

"Seems like the FBI knows which files they provided under the FFOIA... and now that a crime has been committed, the original files should be subpoenaed in order to provide evidence for a criminal investigation...."
Too bad that we don't have Republicans as the Attorney General and as Director of the FBI. But wait!! We do!! Whatever was I thinking?
Surely the FBI didn't give the author the only existing copy of the file in question.
I just love it when a psy-op comes together......

"Why is only the local police involved? - the FBI should be there because copies of THEIR files were stolen."
Simply because that, once copies of the files were turned over to the author, they ceased to be "their" files....

Why is only the local police involved? - the FBI should be there because copies of THEIR files were stolen. The FBI must have a list of every file that they gave Nicosia so it should be easy to compare the remaining ones with the master list, determine what was stolen, and make those files public.
GOOD thinking.

This stuff is very explosive And here you had led me to believe that Nicosia had not read the stolen files. How can I trust you ever again? :) This guy seems more torn than the city that bears his name.

The FBI has a very big backlog of FOIA requests and several layers of review of requests, retrieval, and release. And much of what they do end up releasing is redacted at their discretion. National security, you know.....

Sorry Jerr, the above post was not meant for you. I hate when that happens.

"t would seem to me that there have to be multiple copies of those files. How difficult is it to get new ones, especially if you can define what is missing?"
He can probably get more copies, but they'll charge him again for them I bet. That's alot of copies to make.

I think you have nailed it.

Any way to get those files again from the FBI? You are the first person I've seen put the essential question to the problem. I've been wondering the same thing because obviously the files released to the writer were copies.
To: tracer
Thanks, yes, Pelicano. Terry Lenzner isn't capable of doing the deed himself, but he has issued orders to footsoldiers in clinton's goonery so he would be a natural suspect, if hatellary releases the material in time for the dnc convention and her 'drafting' for the election.

That could well be so. Well, then, we know the Mainstream Media only wants to get a big story, no matter where it leads, without fear or favor. Maybe they would be interested in investing. (Hah!)

...3,000 to 4,000 pages were missing out of a total of 20,000 pages. To excise 3000 pages from 20,000 suggests a familiarity with the material. Hello, Hillary...

Yes, he is a private operative. I think he was just found guilty and given a jail sentenance. I think he was from California. I don't know if he squealed about Hillary or not.
