When I requested information on some drug studies submitted to the FDA I received the information via the Freedom of Information Act. If I remember correctly, they had the information to me in about 2 to 3 weeks. Can someone inform me of what is obtainable under the Freedom of Information Act in relationship to FBI Files. I thought they could only be released if the individual of interest okay's the release. Something is very wrong with this whole story.

The FBI has a very big backlog of FOIA requests and several layers of review of requests, retrieval, and release. And much of what they do end up releasing is redacted at their discretion. National security, you know.....

PERSONAL FBI files can only be released with the approval of the person.
These files are not PERSONAL FBI files, but are reports about the group VVAW.
They can be obtained via FOIA.
