Foxnews host Bill O'Reilly just previewed his show. "Problems continue for the U.S. Military in Fallujah. Why doesn't the U.S. Military just go ahead and level it?"
I have to say that I agree with Bill. Level the place.

In order to save Fallujah, we had to destroy it. In order to save civilization, we had to destroy Fallujah.

But if you level it..you gotta replace it with something worthwhile. No you don't. Salt the fields (though I prefer the modern equivalent, cobalt-59 at nuclear temperatures :-)

I've listened to the briefing given by the general in charge over there. IMHO, Falluja is where the top terrorist is hiding, it's in a small area on one side of town. I expect the Marines know exactly where to strike and they will be visiting there in the next couple of days. It won't be pretty but it will be efficient.

In order to save civilization, we had to destroy Fallujah. Makes sense to me. Might as well do it. After all, it's what Saddam would have done.

So you also come down in favor of killing innocents? You might want to look at my tagline. My dear friend lost his life when a Vietnamese child begged him for food, and lured him into stepping on a strategically placed landmine. Who was the "innocent" in THAT scenario?

It goes like this: Level it, peacefully. Change one word (to piecefully) and you've got it. An example needs to be made, and Islamists don't understand peaceful ones.

In a town of 500,000 there are probably 5,000 insurgents. You have to figure out some way to kill the 5,000 and leveling the town would be unjust. Why?
You would think that the other 495,000 people could deal with the baddies themselves. Or at the very least drop a dime on them (or most of them) anonymously, if they chose to do so through fear.
That they don't, speaks volumes for the naivete, or ignorance, of your assumption.
There is no question in my mind that if they are given 12 hours to start delivering the killers and the arms caches, or random bombing begins, they will either deliver them, or verify their complicity.

How do we even know that the murderers are FROM Fallujah?
Do we know that the killers aren't part of the rent-a-terrorist program which brings in goons from outside of Iraq?
Revenge sound good, but we cannot be against abortion and FOR killing babies in Iraq because our people were killed. We'd be the world's biggest hypocrites.

Blodlust is what I see on this thread.
Eh, it's just the Junior Waffen-SS, FR Division.
Just humor them, they think they're being really cool and tough.
To: Tennessee_Bob
You want to save it? Have at it. Take your time.
Me? I want to give it an ultimatum and, if that fails, then level it.

I think McGavin is off by a factor of 10. I estimate the # at 50,000, or as we said in the Marines, "a target of significance".
Much of the Army is being rotated out, to be replaced by Marine units that will not take kindly to butchery. These people listen for a different drummer.
To: madison10
Has nothing to do with revenge.
Besides that. How can animals have babies?
They'll turn their kids into little animals.
If the murderers aren't from Fallujah..then the people of Fallujah SHOULD HAVE DEALT with the terrorists a long time ago.

Well, exterminating the entire population of South Vietnam would have solved that problem, wouldn't it?
To: John H K
So I guess you would propose negotiating with the terrorists then?
