O'Reilly to call for the leveling of Fallujah?
Foxnews ^ | March 31, 2004. | Bill O' Reilly

Posted on 03/31/2004 4:31:20 PM PST by ConservativeMan55

Foxnews host Bill O'Reilly just previewed his show. "Problems continue for the U.S. Military in Fallujah. Why doesn't the U.S. Military just go ahead and level it?"

I have to say that I agree with Bill. Level the place.

Don't just drop one. I'd drop several.

That's what it would have to be. The others would have to be in other countries. We're talking something almost unimaginable.

Vallely called it straight -- the only reason we're not going to level the place is because of politically correct concerns.

'PC' will be the letters on our grave.

Let's do this RIGHT, gentlemen, we can't be accused of any WAR CRIMES now, can we? Let's try this method:

1) Sweep Falujah, grab all males from 13-90.

2) March them five miles outside the town into the desert--yet, just within sight of it (this is important, read on). Keep them there two days. Proceed to next step.

3) Inform them that the Kurds (who have suffered for many generations at their hands) are, at this moment being notified that there has been an exodus of men from Falujah--and they've been asked to perform "police duties" therein, if only to maintain a proper order.

4) Wait. Wait as long (or as little) as it may take before they start ratting on the perpetrators against our soldiers. It'll happen. All the while, they'll be watching their town...if necessary, use some of our own guys and dress 'em like Kurds, and make a Big Show(tm) of entering Fallujah. Set off a few arty simulators, etc., for excitement now and then. Have some trucks--covered in canvas tarp--very visibly LEAVE town just after first light every morning--very visibly heading NORTH, to Kurdish territory.

Our hands are clean. Or nearly so.

Interesting.

Should we use bulldozers and bombs?

Bomb the hell out of it. Then bulldoze the place.

Then pave it over.

You forgot saturating the soil with lard and salt...

My knee jerk reaction is six MOABs.
But...we have experienced boots on the ground and US Marines are now in that area.
I will await their decision as to the appropriate action.
Whatever it is, I will support them.

My first reaction when I heard about the murders today was to level that city. But the nice midwestern lady that I am, I dismissed that course of events as too tough. I thought of the children in the city who have done no wrong.

Then I saw film of the crowd dancing while they tore apart the bodies of the dead. I have lost that compassionate feeling. As much as I hate to say it, I think that the Sunni triangle needs some serious spring cleaning. Turn the Air Force and the Marines lose and let them have it.

I agree with your logic.

If time is given to evacuate, then the "bad guys" just leave and go elsewhere to spew their hate and bring violence on other Americans.

We need to do in Fallujah what Israel did in Jenin.

Clean out the rat's nest and take out the baddies.

Here is to hoping that the Marines in the area do a through job cleaning out the rat nests, and exacting some 'merican justice.

I'm in general agreement with levelling the city.

But...being cognizant of realities, any order by the President to do this would be disobeyed by any good officer (read: all or almost all officers).

Basically, the President can start a nuke war, but lacks the power to level a town.

Kinda odd, eh?

We don't need a permission slip from anybody. We installed that government. And we can just as easy uninstall them if we don't like them.

Indeed.

But, are you ready for the Soviet America that you are basically proposing?

Movement needs to be toward withdrawal, ASAP, when we have done our best.

Following the fall of Baghdad last April 9, the US has been trying to clean up the insurgents in the Sunni Triangle stretching northwest from Baghdad to Mosul and to the west to Ramadi.

Mosul's resistance has been mostly taken care of with the Kurds moving in. There are occasional flareups in Tikrit and Samarra, but the insurgency there has been taken care of. Baquoba will follow in the next few months -- if not already. The Kurds moving southward are another factor.

What does this leave? West of Baghdad -- from the western suburbs of the capitol to Ramadi. This includes Habbinayah (sp?) and Fallujah.

This is the strongest of the insurgency and a good indicator why the US Marines are there. In the next year, the insurgency to the west of Baghdad will be taken care of by the coalition and by Shi'ite militias going into these areas and wiping out the insurgents. Meanwhile, in Baghdad, the Shi'ites from the south keep pouring into the city making the insurgency there crumble.
