Gun Safety Activist Enters Florida House Race
3/30/2004
Arthur Hayhoe, a longtime gun-safety activist, has announced that he would challenge state Rep. Ken Littlefield (R-Dade City) this fall because of two controversial gun bills that Littlefield co-sponsored, the St. Petersburg Times reported March 25.
Hayhoe, a Democrat, decided to enter the race after Littlefield co-sponsored bills that would protect gun ranges with lead and arsenic pollution from lawsuits from state environmental agencies, and prevent the state from creating a list of gun owners from gun-sale records.
"When I saw Ken Littlefield co-sponsored them, I said, 'I've got to do this,' " said Hayhoe, 71, volunteer executive director of both the Florida Coalition to Stop Gun Violence and Floridians for Gun Safety. "These things are terrible."
Despite his two decades of lobbying for gun-control and gun-safety measures, Hayhoe said his campaign would also focus on other issues.
To date, Hayhoe is the only person who has filed to challenge Littlefield.
I trained as a chemist, but not in any environmental chemistry per se. Would you have any references to arsenic in the environment, and it's reactions with heavy metals?
Like a Narc at a biker rally.
If he does any Q&A campaign appearances, some questions on gun safety would be amusing.
He will.
It is still a "rural' area. Lots of pickup trucks with gun racks.
I see little chance of him winning. Just making him more the brunt of jokes by locals.
Correction. Hayhoe, a member of the gun-banning party....
The Four Rules of Gun Safety according to the democratic party.
1. Ban guns.
2. Ban guns.
3. Ban guns.
4. Ban guns.
Everyone is against gun violence and for gun safety, the difference is most people realize these antis are actually <1>against honest individuals determining their own destinies by knowing gun safety and <2> use of firearms in self defense.
These misguided idiots are the best friends that thugs, crooks, rapists, killers et al can have. It's a shame.
