Kerry Author: Stolen FBI Files Were 'Very Explosive' (Okay Hillary where did you hide them?)

FBI files documenting Sen. John Kerry's antiwar activities that were reported stolen over the weekend could have damaged the likely Democratic nominee's presidential bid, the San Francisco author who obtained the records said Monday.

Asked about the missing files, Vietnam War historian Gerald Nicosia told CNN, "This stuff is very explosive. It's an enormous amount of information."

"The police say it was a neat and professional burglary," he explained, noting that 3,000 to 4,000 pages were missing out of a total of 20,000 pages. Burglars ignored other valuables in the house, raising questions about whether the break-in had anything to do with political damage control on behalf of the Kerry campaign.

A Kerry spokesman had no comment on the apparent theft when asked by the New York Sun over the weekend. But Nicosia said he suspects political foul play, telling the Los Angeles Times for Tuesday's edition that he is a product of the Watergate era who understands the allure of political sabotage.

While researching his book "Home to War, Nicosia obtained Kerry's FBI files in 1999. The records have already proved problematic for the Kerry campaign, forcing the candidate to reverse earlier denials that he attended a November 1971 meeting of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War where a plot to assassinate pro-war U.S. Senators was discussed.

Nicosia told the Sun that the intruders likely wanted more than the three file boxes that were removed, since other boxes appeared to have been rifled. He speculated that the file thieves were interrupted, perhaps scared off by a neighbor's barking dog.

Since the break-in he has trouble sleeping, he told the Times, adding, "My kids were really spooked by the burglary."

Let me get my lib-thinking cap on good and tight:

Kerry's minions stole them, and will release them, and then blame the Republicans for the theft (a la Watergate) and smear campaign.

** taking hat off ** ow, that hurt!

I don't know why hillary would steal them. She already has a complete set. Along with copies of the entire FBI and CIA information databases on everybody. You can bet on that. 900 stolen files was just the tip of the iceberg.

Has anyone seen an actual police report of this theft?

I mean, this really happened and is not just a publicity stunt by the author, right?

The FBI gives up its only and original set of files when someone requests them? Wouldn't think so...

Ahhh but she predicted an October surprise. And you know the Clintons are not crazy about Kerry.

Hardly surprising given that John Kerry's brother broke into their opponents headquarters in the mid 70s to pull some watergate style shenanigans.

If the Dems took them the plan might be to stage a "theft reversal" and plant them in a Republican's possession and then have a tip given to authorities as to who "has" them.

Why would any republican steal these from an author? All they need to do, is obtain the files the same way the author did.....through the "freedom of information act"? No?

I don't know why the Pubbies don't just make the request for the files to begin with...after all, they have been approved for release once already. They could have them well before the election (FOIA requests must be answered in 20 days).

Nicosia was on Tony Snowe's radio show.

Nicosia is a Kerry supporter.

Weird, eh?

FOI Office sends copies, usually redacted heavily.

What's weirder is this guy didn't make copies and kept a set(s) in a separate and safe place.

People, I put on the lib-thinking cap. Not the logical thinking cap. Anything so it can be blamed on the Republicans, no? It doesn't have to make sense, or be logical, it just has to get newspaper and TV time.

If it FOIA stuff, isn't there more where this came from? And doesn't that info get reacted all to heck before it's released anyway? What could be left in there, unless it's something totally new and unexpected...

Did she request a specific set of files? Might as well do a FOIA and get our own set of files to look at on John Kerry.

Exactly! A simple FOIA request for those records previously released could be answered very quickly, since the work has already been done (screening, redaction, etc...). Most FOIA offices retain full copies of all records released in case there is an appeal or other litigation, etc...

So, who is going to mail it in? It probably needs to be a media rep or an academic so that we can get a fee waiver.

Maybe it didn't have anything to do with politics, but something else. LOL. Now, what could that have been?
