For democrats in FloriDUH, when the little hand is on the "2", and the big hand is on the "12", it is dark outside, and you think it is still Saturday, that is when you take the little hand and move it to "3". Good instructions for those who live in Rio Linda, also. ;-)

And this is a good weekend to change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. Also a good time to take those home defense weapons out to the range and blow off whatever ammo you've kept in them, and reload with fresh charges.
(I just made this up, but hey, sounds like more fun than changing batteries. Now I need to convince my wife, it's the law!)

I love the extra hour of sunlight in the evening.No DST in Japan. It's stupid in the summer when sunrise is at 4:30 and sunset is at 7:30.

Sunrise starts getting late (around 6:45am) when October rolls in.That's horrible isn't it? I don't like the months of October & November at all...at least by December you're getting used to it and then the days start getting longer again.

We're gong to move our clocks ahead in Alaska, also, although there doesn't appear to be any reason at all to do so aside from tradition. It's still light at 9 even now, and it is getting light by 5. Pretty soon it will be light all the time with or without ADST.
