[history]
March 30, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Federal Election Commission yesterday ruled that former Democratic presidential candidate Rev. Al Sharpton is not eligible for federal matching campaign funds. The decision was confirmed by an FEC spokesman, who added that the agency isn't taking final action on the matter for another 20 days to give the Sharpton campaign time to provide more documentation to prove that it's entitled to the money.

It was unclear last night whether the FEC would try to force Sharpton to return some or all of the $100,000. Fat chance!

They won't see that money again, but I would be satisfied with Big Al doing time in the slammer in exchange.

Ooops! I feel sorry for all those people that Al said to--"Put it on my tab." Al's the type of guy you've got to get your money up front.

I know which parody we are going to hear on Rush today.

"As soon as I get my matching funds, I'm out the door"

"Al Sharpton For President"? What a joke. A funds rip-off from the start. This is why, this year, on my IRS 1040 form I checked "NO" for $3.00 for the presidential election fund. Any serious candidate can get support from people that really agree with the candidates issues and the candidates qualifications.

Sharpton hasn't paid the bills from his last 'campaign' - there is no way that any pseudo-enforcement arm of the Federal government would DARE go after the Reverend Al. Can't you see the headlines? 'Racist Bush government harasses Black Minister to return government contributions!'
To: kattracks
Racism has even now infected the FEC.
Anyways, the idea of forcing one to fund anothers speech makes me want to puke.
