Just wanted to post pictures of my new Baby Girl!
My wife was found to be suffering from Preeclampsia and the baby didn't have much amniotic fluid (would up even less!). Early delivery (32 weeks)was an absolute must for both Mommy and Baby.
Baby and Mommy are doing great!
Anna Elizabeth was born approximately 1:30 PM via C-section and weighs 3 lbs 11 oz.
Praise the Lord for the strenght he have us all and most especially to Baby Anna. Anna will get to come home when she reaches 4.5 lbs and is eating properly.
The Dr. is already backing off on the oxygen, as she is breathing very well on her own.
And the proud daddy with Baby Anna!

I honestly believe the depression on Diana's part is 100% tied to having to leave Anna at the hospital every night.
She is doing quite well otherwise.

Congrats on your tiny little doll-baby! She is too sweet for words.
I hope she can come home soon, so you can all be together and enjoy your first weeks and months as a family.
God bless all of you!

Anna is so beautiful!
I have to warn you that WE (I am a man)cannot understand post-partum depression (bad spelling?)Please make sure that her Doctor is aware of the depression.
My wife told me much later that she had considered suicide shortly after my Son was born.
A woman can be sad but feels she cannot tell anyone because she feels ashamed.
I don't want throw water on the celebration.
I was just so shocked when she told me this.It was very disturbing.
.I do also understand that it could be because of not being able to bring her home and I hope that this is true.

So precious. Looking forward to more updates.

And the world needs more Annas... LOL!
Please tell that precious little lovemuffin that I commiserate with her in advance for all the times to come when, in gift shops around the country, she is unable to ever find decorative door plaques or other useless yet desirable personalized tchotchkes that bear her name.

Psalm 127
3: Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4: As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5: Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

She looks so much bigger than she did at birth! She is filling out so beautifully every time you post pictures. And I love her in the last picture--all little girls look so sweet in pink.
Her progress sounds phenomenal--thanks be to God!

We just bought a digital camera last weekend--there will be lots of picture taking at the hospital, if her daddy has anything to say about it. Our families are several hundred miles away, so this way we will be able to show them pictures of the little one ASAP.
I don't know how little she'll be--my first daughter weighed 8 lbs 7 oz and was over 22 inches long! Our second (a boy) weighed in at 6 lbs 13 oz and was just under 20 inches. And he was born closer to his due date than his big sister! I am not a tall woman either (5 ft 5 and 115 lbs not pregnant), so it's all baby weight!

Small update today - Anna is now up to 3 lbs 12.4 oz. Just under 1 oz up from yesterday. Not much other news - she is able to take a bit more by bottle, which means less by tube. Thanks again for the prayers and well-wishes.

She is so precious. She looks like her mom. Hopefully she can make her FReeper debut when Jim visits Little Rock. What a great photo that would make. I'm so glad to hear about the improvements.

Thank you so much Battman for the update. I have been praying for her daily. Sounds like she is making progress, slow but sure. I LOVE the photos when you send them. Thanks for the ping.

Anna Update 4/18/2004
Good news when we visited Anna today:
After her pulling her own feeding tube out of her nose twice yesterday, they have not put it back in. In fact, she is taking her full bottle at every feeding (at least for over 24 hours now). Her current feeding is 36cc of fortified breast milk every 3 hours allowing her to take more if she wants it.
Her weight this AM (Sunday) was 3 lbs 14.6 oz, a gain of 1.8 oz over the last 24 hours!
Shes getting closer to coming home. We are hoping that this will be her last full week in the hospital. When she passes 4 lbs, they will start her in a crib preparing her for going home. Diana will spend the night in the hospital with her her last night.
Praise God!
Sorry, no new pictures yet. Hope to have some new ones to post tomorrow (Monday).
