"
The truth is that drilling in ANWR will affect only .01% - that's, right, one-tenth of one percent - of the nineteen million acre refuge."And that's not all of it by any means.
It's interesting that since the oil production at North Slope and the Trans-Alaska pipeline have been put in service, the caribou herd has increased several fold. They seem to love the tiny bit of heat given off of it when they have their calves.
The environazis have laid another big one and it's past time we rubbed their noses in it.

Sounds good to me.

maybe ted could dive for oil off the coast of massachussetts.I believe that the Admiral of the SS Oldsmobile wouldn't want to do that. After all, he lost half his crew on the maiden dive.

Southern Ill is dotted with oil wells that could be producing oil and jobs. They were shut down when cheaper oil out of OPEC could be gotten.

The oil in Alaska National Wildlife Refuge would last for less than six months,
Isn't that if only it was used and nothing else imported or other domestic production online?
I agree......

As much as I would like to agree with you, I can't.
The problem is cheap crude prices. The middle east has the lowest cost for producing crude in the world. Until the price of crude goes over $45-60 a barrel it doesn't make economic sense trying to compete. The problem is not a shortage of oil, instead the problem is that oil is too cheap to bother getting new sources of oil.
The only thing we can do that would help the situation would be to build new refineries and end the asinine practice of specially formulated blends for certain geographical regions. That practice eliminates most of the competition and raises the price.
The oil companies actually "contribute" to the green organizations to help stop the building of new refineries. It is probably a great investment for them.

Gosh... gas prices have *never* gone up in the summer, just like they have done EVERY summer until now. Naw, that would never happen.
Idiots.

maybe ted could dive for oil off the coast of massachussetts.I don't think that would work. It would take at least a ton of lead weights to get that tub of blubber to sink to the bottom, and by the time he got down there it would be time to come up for cocktail hour.

Maybe they should cut gasoline taxes. Actual price of fuel is about 45 cents a gallon?

Absolutely. However, if you cut the gasoline and diesel taxes, you'd hear the anguished squalls of Democrats and Greenies for the next hundred years.
Hey, now there's a thought.
To: writer33
When I went off college in 1955 I distinctly remember buying Gulf regular gas for my old Chevy at 25.9 cents per gallon. Yesterday I bought a tank of Marathon regular unleaded for $1.669 per gallon. According to my handy dandy inflation calculator, if gas had increased in price at the rate of inflation in general it would have cost $1.72.
Of course back then I didn't have to pump it myself, and I got my oil and tire pressure checked and my windshield cleaned for the price of the gas. But even if you figure in 10 minutes of my labor, the price of gas is still not out of line. The thing that makes it seem so bad is that we had 30 years of inflation brought up to date in the last 6 months.

Maybe they should cut them. Of course they should cut them. And cigarette taxes. And all other kinds of taxes as well. It'll only make the economy healthier.

The gas prices will go down. And probably within the next three months.

I don't think Massachussetts will let go of Ted Kennedy. By now, you'd think they'd have learned. And I know I'm gonna ruffle some feathers, but it's an East Coast thing. They have never learned, despite the conservatives that live there.
Of course living in Washington-just up the block from the Socialist Republic of California-I see striking similiarties in the people's behavior. Maybe it's the saltwater. I don't know. Oregon's got the same problem. I guess it is the saltwater.
Because no matter what we do on the landlocked side of the state, it seems to come unraveled by the West Coast. It is frustrating and quite frankly not worth the battle. The only way these libs learn is when things get so bad that the general population holds Special Elections. Example. California.
I cannot understand the depth of idiocy spread by the left and the willingness of the people to sit there and take it. Of course some of them don't have any choice since many of these things are forced upon us by the court, but man.
O.K. I've ranted long enough and agree with you all the way. Just remember to eat a good steak for me. :)
