Then, quoting her classified testimony, he said Rice insisted, "'I could not anticipate that they would try to use an airplane as a missile' [while] acknowledging that the intelligence community could anticipate it."The quote from Condi Rice isn't classified. She said it at a press briefing.

But area, this is a bi-partisan committee and there is no real effort to harm Dr. Rice, who would be a formidable challenger to Her Royal Clintonista.

Isn't there the possibility of prison time for the unauthorized release of classified material? I guess that law doesn't apply to Dems either.

Isn't distributing classified material for publication a violation of US laws? Shouldn't Ben-Veniste be punished for this??

If this is traceable to Ben Viniste the Republicans should demand his removal. He is politicizing these hearings the same way he worked the impeachment hearings. Set a trap and spring it on him... please

The RATS are very busy. They are trying to blame ONE PERSON (GWB) for the attacks on the US.
This is like blaming a WOMAN for being beat up by her HUSBAND during an ALCOHOLIC RAGE.

If he's leaking classified info., he should be brought up on charges. It doesn't matter that he's quoting her correctly or incorrectly, but that he knowingly is leaking anything.
To: areafiftyone
Condi Rice did not have the information about the possibility to use planes as missiles because the woman that claims to have seen the memorandum was not hired as a translator until after 9/11 and would not have been privy to anything that was translated earlier. The woman is another disgruntled, fired, employee.

They had better be careful, because I have a feeling if this continues, there is going to be a massive information dump that will result in the Clintons being run out of town on a rail.

Democrats on the Commission immediately seized on Ben-Veniste's leak to issue new demands that Rice testify in public. I know I should be past astonishment at the hypocrisy of the liberals.... but this one is noteworthy even by their standards. If this is an illegal/unethical leak, then to use it to buttress their demands for public testimony is beneath even their standards. After all, weren't we lectured during Memogate that because those memos were "illegally" leaked, the content (you know, that insignificant little Ted Kennedy obstruction-of-justice thingy) is off limits? If the Democrats won't allow use of leaked information to investigate a crime... then isn't it a bit inconsistent for them to rely on it to demand public testimony?

Actually, this is a good thing.
Since Ben Veniste leaked a classified statement, there's ample reason to charge him with partisanship. But that's not the real benefit.
Rice can say that she cannot deal with a commission that is leaking classified material or she can say, "okay, since you guys are going to leak, I might as well come on down and give public testimony". See, it's all a question of building things up to the moment at which Condi walks in and lets the air out of the Democrats baloon.
This is Ollie North all over again, folks. Only Condi knows what she's doing.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Then, quoting her classified testimony, he said Rice insisted, "'I could not anticipate that they would try to use an airplane as a missile' [while] acknowledging that the intelligence community could anticipate it." I thought the story on this was that she was referring to the intelligence spikes pre-9/11-- that those spikes had nothing to do with using planes to hit buildings.
