Don Imus on his radio show IMUS IN THE MORNING (also broadcast on MSNBC - TV) just (6:20 AM, Monday 3/30/04) offered Richard Clarke a job with a salary of $100,000 per year plus health benefits to be Security Consultant for his show PROVIDED that Richard Clarke donate all of the money he makes from his book, AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, plus advances,to the families of 9/11 victims. IMUS said he was calling on Mr. Clarke to make good his promise to donate money from the book as Mr. Clarke has offered in the Media. IMUS also argued that Mr. Clarke has never had "a real job," having worked for 30 years on public funding.

IMUS is advancing the Richard Clarke debate to take Mr. Clarke up publically on his offer to donate proceeds from AGAINST ALL ENEMIES to 9/11 victims.

Imus is supporting Kerry. I'm surprised he's doing this.

Dickie better rush to take this job and make sure he has a signed contract. He's going to need the money for legal fees--I hope.

Good, I see you got it. I was just going to post something and made a final check before doing so. Before making the offer, the I-Man did make the observation that there is surely something not quite right about the guy.

Evan Thomas on now. Clarke is toast. Too many lefties bashing him. Thomas just referred to him as a loud mouth, among other things.

He knows the petty little twit would never take the job.

Imus Question: Does he have a bash-Bush agenda?
Thomas: Yes, . . .

I know he knows the twit won't take the job. But he's exposing him as a twit. Which is a bit of surprise. I would have expected Imus to be one of the Clarke worshippers, spreading flowers on the ground in front of him as he walks. Singing Hossanas. But this trick is designed to expose the twit as a twit. Is Imus having second thoughts about supporting Kerry the Commie?

Thomas: Not doing it for the money, maybe ego, but not the money.

Respectfully, two different subjects. His so-called support of Kerry is harmless. Doesn't influence you or me and I don't believe it changes the minds of any of Imus' audience.
To: leadpenny
I agree. He has a right to support Kerry. All I'm saying is that I am surprised that a Kerry supporter would do something that, in effect, is helping Bush.
By offering Clarke this job --- on the grounds that he give up his million dollars as he said he would, forcing him to come clean on that one way or the other --- he is potentiall doing Bush a favor.
Which is a strange thing for a Kerry supporter to do. I'm wondering if he's wavering in his support for Kerry.

I noticed a shift yesterday from the Leftist commentators on FNC. They were trying to minimize Clarke and to shift the debate to the Real Issues(TM). I think the "I voted for Gore" admission on MTP doomed Clarke.

Thomas thinks this will effect the election. Wrong!
Clarke (and his book) will be all but forgotten by the Fall.
To: jrlc
Clarke will probably make a token donation to 911 victims, then flake on the rest. By the time that becomes near to an issue his fifteen minutes will be up, unless they prosecute him for perjury for lying to Congress.

I consider Don Imus as a Brian Lamb with an attitude. Neither of them, in their own way, cares who gets elected.
I get wound up about this stuff, as do most FReepers, but there are still many fence-sitters out there. I love to debate lefties but I also appreciate impartiality in the media when I can find it.

The RAT strategy advanced by Kerry is to ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK -- over anything. Then when the story has lost interest, or threatens to turn, the RATS drop the story and move on to the next attack (just like with the bogus "AWOL" story on the Commander in Chief). Looks like the RATS are getting ready to dump Clarke.

Unless it was Clarke's way of putting out his resume, I fail to see why he said he voted for Gore. He should have said that the vote was private, as it is! After all, he refused to say he was going to vote for this time.
