[history]
One of the strangest things about the furor over Sen. John Kerry's claim that he's heard from foreign leaders that they want him to defeat George W. Bush is that the Bush campaign wants to draw attention to the issue. Citing unnamed and unnamable sources is always a dubious practice. But in the history of unproven campaign claims has there ever been a more plausible assertion than that many of America's partners would like to see Bush replaced?

America is not more isolated. We were followers... Now we are LEADERS. It always feels lonlier at the top, but Israel and G-d are with us.

It is hard to figure out why Republicans want to draw attention to the idea that Bush may be the first incumbent president in the postwar period that so many of America's allies would prefer to see defeated.Because Americans are offended by the prospect of faggy leftist Euroweenies having ANY hand in selecting our leadership.

"Whatever Americans may think of George Bush's policies - and however deluded allies may be that a Kerry presidency would be one long honeymoon - it is simply a fact that on issues ranging from the environment to the budget deficit to the death penalty to Iraq, Bush is deeply unpopular abroad."
Why would people "abroad" care about our budget deficit?
And excuse me for being unconcerned about their position on the death penalty in the U.S. Never once did it create a mass grave in all the history of this country. Iraq's death penalty filled hundreds of them, and they felt he should remain the leader of Iraq.

Yeah, if America would only listen to the child molesting Belgians, or the Jew baiting French, all would be well.
Right.

Ya, let's pull back on all of our foriegn aid, and fat business contracts, and see how far our ratings can drop. As long as we're kissing everyone's butt's everything's hunky-dory.

We were followers... Now we are LEADERS. It always feels lon[e]lier at the top... Damn right! Euroweenies dragged us into World War I. Euroweenies dragged us into World War II. Euroweenies burdened us with the long-term defense of their continent. Euroweenies stopped us from finishing the Gulf War. Euroweenies dragged us into Yugoslavia.
America put up with this for a century because we were geographically isolated. What happened on 9-11-01 proved that we are no longer geographically isolated. When the fecal matter hit the fan in Europe, we've always been their for the Euroweenies. Now that the fecal matter hit the fan in America, the many of the Euroweenies want to desert us. Screw them!
God bless America!

The U.S. been a generous friend to Europeans in need for a very long time. They've been spoiled rotten by our expenditure of American lives and treasure on their behalf, and now they think they have a permanent entitlement. It's time for Europeans to learn how to be America's friend in need.

A majority of the french, turks and germans don't like us. To me this is powerful evidence we are doing something right. I wonder if they realize the feeling is mutual.

Even more to the point, Pew reports, international views of President Bush are strikingly and unanimously negative. Pew? LOL! It's a leftist group run by the likes of Madeline Allbright.

If this is the best of Brookings, it doesn't have long left of being a functional institution, without cash infusions from foreign governments and foreign business interests.
Besdies laughing at the fact I wasted my time reading this, thats the best I could write between the laughing and disbelief that this institution gets on national TV to promote it's overarching viewpoints.

We weren't exactly popular with two large foreign nations from 1941 to 1945. But we won the war against Germany and Japan, and brought peace to Europe and Japan.

Because the rest of the world is populated by pinkos, perverts, heretics, atheists, Moslems, pagans, and assorted other scum. It may well be true that we have to tolerate their continued existance, but that doesn't mean that we have to like it.
As far as I'm concerned, every country in the world except for the United States and perhaps a half dozen others (the UK, Israel, Canada, Japan, Australia, Poland, and perhaps one other) can go straight to Hell.
To: NormsRevenge
So far the only countries I have heard listed as wanting Kerry as our next president are North Korea, France, Spain, and maybe Iran(I don't know if Iran has made it official) and I don't consider any of them allies.
