John Kerry has become a surprise ebay "best seller" with copies of his 1971 book The New Soldier.
The book, which features pictures of Kerry in his Vietnam war protest days and has a controversial front cover that mocks the WWII raising of the flag at Iwo Jima, has sold for as high as $216.00 in recent ebay auctions.. Current bid price in an auction running now is nearly $180.00.

The first auction smells of a setup. The accounts that were bidding were new, with little or no respect rating. When I used to bid on eBay, people would use second accounts or have friends or family jack up bids in order to get more money. If the friend/family won the bid, you'd see the same item re-listed within a few weeks.
Someone thinks they're an being an Internet bad a** by making Kerry look good on eBay. About as cheap as using a BOT to pad online poll results.

This is nothing new. You can also check the used books from dealers across the county at www.bookfinder.com. This book HAS gone up to between $120-350 a copy (sometimes dependent on whether it is a softcover or hardcover edition).
I wonder how much effort John Kerry spent buying back copies of this book.
Someone on ebay had a copy that they had him sign at the Iowa caucus and was filmed on Fox News signing. I don't know whether Kerry was aware of what he was signing. The book would have been worth even more if the person had gotten Kerry to date the autograph.
His signing of the book could be used as a way to show that John Kerry still stands by this work.

(From the way the Spanish voted - it seems that the Europeans do know there is an Iraq-Al Qaida link.)

I bet the bidding on most copies of this book is between Karl Rove, the Kerry campaign and Drudge... ;-)

Interesting EBay ID on that first one.

Show it to the veterans of WWII and see what they think of Kerry then.

You are right. They are buying the copies, and destroying them, just like the FBI files they stole last week.

According to Gerald Nicosia, in "Home to War," the collection of essays in "The New Soldier" was the work of John Kerry's brother-in-law:
p. 155 "John Kerry's brother-in-law David Thorne and his friend George Butler had documented (with tape recorder and camera respectively) the entire Dewey Canyon III operation as Thorne's senior project at the Columbia School of Journalism. Because veterans were 'hot' just then, Collier offered them a book contract--but only provided John Kerry's name was on the book jacket--and the book, called The New Soldier, was rushed into print within a few months."
