March 28, 2004 -- WE are all in agreement that a review of what happened leading up to 9/11 is important for many reasons. As families and friends of loved ones killed by the terrorists that day, we want to know if 9/11 realistically could have been prevented, whether justice is being brought to those behind this attack, and, most important, that our government is taking the right action to stop future attacks. A meaningful review as to what happened on 9/11 and the aftermath can only happen if it is truly nonpartisan. Unfortunately, this week much of the non-partisanship was taken from us when Richard Clarke, the former White House counterterrorism advisor, decided to use his testimony before the 9/11 Commission to showcase the release of his tell-all book.

hmmmmmmmm, remember during the 8 years of the dastardly duo we were inundated with various victims suffering from ailments, not taken care of by government to starving senior citizens and poor children to poor "uneducated graduates of our school systems" and the list went on. We must never forget the democrat party deals only with VICTIMS of different sorts, not successful individuals, unless they are the "how does it 'feel' to be the only, black, American Indian, Chinese to accomplish the "plisssccchhhhh plan" before any of us VERY successful presstitutes did?

God bless these people even though it will only be the 9/11 handful of "women" that get the press and taking full credit for the 9/11 hearings being implemented and swooning over clarkes "apology."

Richard & Terry Otten (parents of Michael Otten, FDNY)

John & Janet Vigiano (parents of Joseph Vigiano, NYPD, and John Vigiano, FDNY)

These 2 families are from my hometown. Prayers for all of them.

A much-appreciated effort from the families, and a welcome relief from the professional victim group.

Yep. And most of the people who signed that letter are families who have been completely ignored by the media in favor of the zillionth Kristen Breitweister anti-Bush comment.

Isn't that only 32 families? What about the rest of them?

You are aware, I would think, that an even smaller group of families have formed an anti-Bush faction and have been getting a huge amount of media attention as if their sentiments represent the "rest of them".

I hope that helps clear it up for you why this matters.

Dittos! Miss Marple.

These hearings should have been put off until after the election not just for the country but the whole world is watching, it is inappropriate at this time. One question that keeps popping up in my mind is the flight instructor (s) where the terrorists gained their knowledge...were they so greedy they failed to recognize unusual requests and behavior and report it or were they just stupid.

As to Clarke, ”Yet he decided to risk.......”...that little man's decision was premeditated with spite and malice, risk didn't enter the picture.

Ya know . . . I like to think I'm the typical redneck Texan of Hollyweird lore. Cynical, independent, proud, more bluster than muster, and tougher than an Ethiopian T-bone steak . . . but then I read the raw, heart-felt, and sobering reflections or REAL men and women like these folks and I just tear-up like a girly-girl watching Love Story.

My prayers and respect go to these patriotic souls. THEY are the backbone of America . . . not loud-mouths like me.
