Thank you for this post. It gives hope, however faint, for the vast wasteland known as National People's Radio. A FEW real humans might be found there. (Still, as a Congressman I'll cast every possible vote to defund NPR.)

I don't really consider myself a conservative, in fact there are a great many things I disagree with in regards to your average freeper.

But I do find that conservatives are more likely to be intellectually honest and consistent than liberals, and that tips me towards reading FR and NRO more than I would DU and the mainstream press.

Correction...my dad informed me that NPR stands for National Pinko Radio...

I can always instantly determine someone's politics by when they say, "I heard a piece on NPR the other day"...

This is a good article. What troubles me, however, is now many of us on the right, especially we Freepers, do not really read the Left's intellectuals. Oh, sure, we're exposed to the daily bias of the press and liberal pontificating, but few, I suspect, actually read the liberal and leftist intellectuals. This is as much a mistake as the left's not reading conservative thinkers: we risk attacking only a caricature of the left, which transmogrifies into a straw man.
