[history]
When Dick Gephardt and Howard Dean eviscerated one another in Iowa with ferociously negative ads, John Kerry proved to be the beneficiary, cleverly exploiting the free ride that began on Iowa's wintry caucus night all the way to presumptive-nominee status. As this newspaper has noted, Mr. Kerry also benefited greatly from the fact that Messrs. Dean and Gephardt had foolishly promised to eliminate all of the tax cuts enacted under President Bush, including the substantial tax relief given to middle-class families. For his part, Mr. Kerry pledged only to repeal the tax cuts for those earning more than $200,000. With the Democratic presidential candidates having collectively spent more than $190 million through Super Tuesday on March 2, much of it blistering President Bush, Mr. Kerry emerged in fine shape, leading the incumbent in several polls.

Remember, the democrats "middle-class tax relief", or cuts campaign proimises are bogus!!!
Remember Clinton's apology after elected that there was a mistke calculating the numbers and now he couldn't give that middle-class tax break!!
Nobody ebver talks about that, or the fact that within days of his first election, he passed a 4cent a gallon gas tax for an "infrastructure trust fund".
Does anybody know where this trust fund is?
The democrats record on keeping campaign promises regarding any kind of tax relief is a "miserable failure". Cannot trust it.

You know, that's a good point. You'd think it would've been mentioned -once- about a year ago when the Northeast had that big electric outage and everyone screamed and ranted about infrastructure for 2 weeks.

I have a very different analysis of what really happened in Iowa.
Kennedy rode into town with his 'team'. Made an offer to Gephardt he couldn't refuse and all his union members were switched from Gephardt to Kerry.
It had nothing to do with negative ads at all.
Just my opinion.

There is a Bush ad running now describing the democrat promise of a middle class tax cut that resulted in a tax increase AND a tax increase on Social Secuity. Also mentioning Kerry's suggestion of a 50cent per gallon tax on gasoline.
